Nakedness Is Next to Godliness

Continued from Page 1

A man without shame is a man blinded to the reality of his own imperfections. For the rest of us, all too aware of our own failings, must recognize that this awareness is a gift, not a curse. And so, we struggle onward—praying, and hoping for the day when, through the intercession of He who died for those very failings we struggle so desperately to conceal, we will find ourselves no longer reliant on our masks; utterly and unabashedly naked once more.

(The Naked City is available through Netflix's Streaming Instantly. For those interested in a fantastic evening of cinematic angst, a double-feature of The Naked City and Dassin's subsequent Night and the City is highly recommended.)
