Forty-One Lovely Words Grounded in Scripture and Tradition
October 26, 2011 by Pat Gohn
Most importantly, Mary in no way diminishes or takes away from Jesus, the One Mediator between God and humanity. Indeed, she is transparent—she points to the merits of his work, both by being the Immaculate Conception and by her example of graceful discipleship. ("Do whatever he tells you," Jn. 2:5.)
Mary is implicitly tied to Christ's work of salvation from beginning to end. And if you want to dwell deeply on the life of Christ, and the life of Mary, pray the twenty mysteries of the Rosary.
Oh, and by the way, The Catechism calls the Rosary, "the epitome of the whole Gospel." (See CCC 971.)
Let me close with this thought from St. Louis de Montfort: "The salvation of the whole world began with the 'Hail Mary'. Hence, the salvation of each person is also attached to this prayer."
May I never reject the simplicity and beauty of the "Hail Mary," even though a little child can pray it. How often I forget that I am child of God.
And a child of Mary.
Explore a minute with Mary, here.
