Let's Reconcile African-Americans and Republicans

April 10, 2011 by David French

Continued from Page 1

As critical as education is, it pales in comparison to abortion. Black America's greatest asset is its own human capital, yet abortionists are killing roughly half of black children before they're born. Abortion clinics are heavily clustered in minority neighborhoods, and the abortion "right" itself was first carved out by a legion of racists (then known as eugenicists) committed to the alleged "improvement" of the human race by weeding out society's "undesirables" through birth control and abortion. This history, though well known in the pro-life community, is hardly well known in society at large. Do black Americans know that every black child killed in the womb fulfills the dreams and hopes of the abortion movement's racist forefathers?

It won't be easy to win back black voters, but it's necessary. How can we end abortion without the support of the black community? How can we revitalize education without the support of the black community? How can we continue to be one nation, under God, when a huge numbers of Americans feel permanently alienated from one of our two great political parties?

It's often said (with some sad measure of truth) that America's most segregated day is Sunday, when white and black Americans go to their separate churches to worship the same Savior.

But by the numbers, the most segregated day may very well be the first Tuesday in November, when 90 percent of black Americans cast their vote for a party that takes them for granted but can't live without them.

Black Americans deserve better. They deserve a party and movement that is creatively striving for equality of opportunity and fiercely defending their children when they are weakest and most vulnerable.
