Lighting the Way with God's Holy Word

December 08, 2010 by Lisa Mladinich

Continued from Page 1

h) Use configurations of students standing or sitting side-by-side to create set pieces. For example, to create Jonah's whale or a boat for the apostles just line them up in two semi-circles, facing each other. They can wave their arms to show the raging storm, or rock from side to side. Noah or the apostles simply step into the middle of it all, and act out the scene. Your students can create an archway with their arms for Noah's animals to crawl through, or stand with their arms held straight out to create a Crucifixion tableaux.

Spiritual Perk: "Living" in God's holy Word for even a few minutes is powerful, and creates vivid, enduring memories. It also results in children's having favorite Bible stories they will want to read or hear or play-act again and again.

Let me know how it goes for you, and if you have any questions, email me!

Next week: Fun and exciting ways to help children memorize scripture and develop a lifelong habit of reading their own Bibles.

Happy Feast of the Immaculate Conception (December 8th) and Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe (December 12th)! Do honor Our Lady in your classes this month with a decade of the Rosary each week. It's a great habit you might want to establish for the whole year.

God bless you!
