Abraham

Abraham, originally named Abram, is the common patriarch and namesake for the three Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. He is the father of the nation of Israel and seen as the father of the Covenant in Judaism. The Covenant is referenced repeatedly throughout the Torah and the Old Testament. Abraham is perhaps best known for the story in which God orders him to sacrifice his son, Isaac. Abraham moves to obey, but at the last minute, God provides, depending on the tradition, either a lamb or a ram to sacrifice instead.
