Rich Man Won’t Take My God

Last updated on: January 18, 2012 at 10:56 am   By Zack Hunt

So this exists. We read the lyrics they posted on their YouTube page, but we’re still not quite sure what the song is about. Apparently, “rich men” are passing “laws” that will take away “our” money and freedom which, based on the chorus, seems to be equivalent to God. Well, if there’s anything that will spread the gospel of hate and intolerance, it’s Confederate Steven Tyler and his band. (Our sincerest apologies to Aerosmith for that remark) Read more

Questions: A Letter To God

Last updated on: January 17, 2012 at 2:35 pm   By Zack Hunt

We apparently missed this while we were away for the holidays. Which is sad because it’s really good. It’s from our friend Matthew Paul Turner, the man behind Jesus Needs New Pr. It’s open, honest, and asks some really tough, but important questions. Read more

When Singing In Church Goes Wrong…..REALLY WRONG

Last updated on: January 17, 2012 at 10:21 am   By Zack Hunt

There are two options for this video. 1)It’s a joke. This is certainly possible, particularly given the round of applause this guy gets at the end. Given the fact that we hear what we think are a few laughs at the end and the difficulty we have believing that someone with such an obvious lack of singing ability would actually be allowed to sing in church, we lean towards this option. However, we’ve been witnesses to many a... Read more

Danny Davis: The Mulleted Evangelist With Miracle Oil

Last updated on: January 16, 2012 at 3:17 pm   By Zack Hunt

There’s a pretty sweet song you can enjoy during the first half of this video, but the real fun starts at the 3:37 mark. Meet televangelist Danny Davis. He’s got a mullet. And miracle oil. Do you really need to know anything else? Read more

The Myth of Sola Fide

Last updated on: January 16, 2012 at 9:40 am   By Zack Hunt

This post is a follow up of sorts to the “Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus” post from the other day, but more so it is a fleshing out of things I’ve been thinking about over the past several months. So, forgive me in advance once again. This won’t be my shortest post. First, a story. There’s a great episode of The Office in which Dunder-Mifflin is getting ready to launch their new website. As part of the... Read more

Hating Religion, Loving Jesus: The Importance of Words

Last updated on: January 13, 2012 at 10:36 am   By Zack Hunt

After reading through several comments from yesterday’s “Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus” post, I thought a bit of follow up was needed. I’ll elaborate more on my issues with “sola fide” later. Today, I want to talk about the importance of words. One comment that came up time and time again yesterday was that Jeff Behtke, the poet in the video, meant something other than the actual definition of “religion” when he said he hated religion. The idea... Read more

“Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus” – The False Dichotomy

Last updated on: January 12, 2012 at 12:06 pm   By Zack Hunt

My apologies for the long post, but I thought this video, which is quickly going viral, is in need of some thoughtful reflection. If you have Christian friends and you’ve been on Facebook in the past 48 hours, then chances are you’ve already seen it. As of “press time” the video was already closing in on 1 million views on Facebook after having only been posted on Tuesday. No question about it that’s impressive. Aesthetically speaking it’s not hard to... Read more

Todd Bentley Cures Cancer With A Punch – Literally

Last updated on: January 11, 2012 at 9:50 am   By Zack Hunt

If you were to punch someone in public it would normally be labled “assault”. If you’re Todd Bentley it’s called “divine healing”. Additionally, convulsing “vibrating” on the ground after you’ve been sucker punched in the chest having previously suffered a broken sternum and ribs would normally be cause to call the paramedics. If you’re Todd Bentley, it’s just the “power of God” at work Read more
