Steve Jobs & Westboro Baptist: The Irony of Hate

Last updated on: October 6, 2011 at 10:29 am   By Zack Hunt

Westboro Baptist Church uses iPhone to announce protest at Steve Jobs’s funeral By Elizabeth Tenety Westboro Baptist Church announced plans Wednesday night to protest Steve Jobs’s funeral, sending the message out. . .wait for it. . . via Twitter for iPhone. Margie Phelps, daughter of the small church’s founder and the lawyer who represented the church during their First Amendment case at the Supreme Court, (which Westboro won) was among the Phelps family members to use Apple products to Tweet about the death of the Apple... Read more

Churches using “Thriller” promotions: An exhaustive look

Last updated on: October 5, 2011 at 11:21 am   By Guest Contributor

It’s amazing what you can learn wasting a morning on youtube. This morning’s new nugget of knowledge is that the Michael Jackson classic “Thriller” is often performed in (or by) churches. Seriously. Go look- there are dozens and dozens of them! Who knew?! Here’s an example of “Thriller” being used as a promotional tool for a youth event. Pretty decent quality on this one   Another interesting phenomenon I noticed is the use of “Thriller” in conjunction with Christmas... Read more

‘The Nightmare’ – Scaring People To Jesus

Last updated on: October 5, 2011 at 10:34 am   By Zack Hunt

I’ve said before  and I’ll say it again: I am not a fan of so-called “hell houses” or “Christian haunted houses.” I’m not interested in scaring people into heaven, if that’s even possible. So when the guy in this video says “Most people think we’re crazy for putting on The Nightmare…..Then again most people don’t think they can change the world,” I’ve got to take issue with what he’s implying. He is right that people are capable of... Read more

“There Are No Sissys In God’s Army”

Last updated on: October 4, 2011 at 12:03 pm   By Zack Hunt

No idea who this guy is, but he’s pretty amusing. Definitely not afraid to scream. Especially when he talks about “God’s army.” Doth quote the preacher, “There are no sissys in God’s army!!!” Well, glad he cleared that one up for us. I wonder if this guy was Mark Driscoll’s mentor? Glory School

Last updated on: October 4, 2011 at 10:19 am   By Zack Hunt

Do you find yourself thinking, “Gee whiz I wish I had access to the realm of glory so I could heal the sick, raise the dead, get rich, and speak in tongues”? Well, Patricia King is here to help with the Deathly Hallows her “Glory School.” Seems that she hung out with the Holy Spirit for 30 days a while back, during which the Spirit taught her how to “step into the realm”. That’s a long time to... Read more

Need A Bible Hug?

Last updated on: October 3, 2011 at 10:14 am   By Zack Hunt

So there’s this…. Personally, I find this more creepy than inspiring. It immediately made me think of the movie The Frighteners with Michael J. Fox. You know, how the ghosts push through walks but don’t go all the way through…. Read more

Taking It All Off…..For Church??

Last updated on: September 30, 2011 at 9:46 am   By Zack Hunt

Umm…..yeah. I really, really, really hope the senior adult ministry at my church doesn’t try this fundraiser.   Church men bare more than souls By Amanda Cedrone The Boston Globe Watch out, Chippendales. A few men from Framingham are baring it all, almost, in a 2012 calendar.  The First Parish Celebration 2012 calendar features 12 of the church’s male parishioners between ages 64 and 87 proudly displaying their bodies. “It’s meant to show people there is life after 65,’’... Read more

‘Pastor’ Steve Anderson: Disrespectful Children Should Be Put To Death

Last updated on: September 29, 2011 at 10:46 am   By Zack Hunt

Ok, to be fair the exact phrase “I think children who disrespect their parents should be put to death” does not come out of the mouth of crazy “Pastor” Steve. HOWEVER, the argument he is clearly making is that Levitical law should be followed instead of “secular law” because it is “God’s law” and therefore better than the secular law of 17th century England. Which is obviously an air tight argument. According to “Pastor” Steve under “God’s law” there are... Read more

Jesus Appears On Nintendo

Last updated on: September 28, 2011 at 1:44 pm   By Zack Hunt

We’ve seen plenty of supposed Jesus images on random objects over the years. Some pretty convincing, most not so much. This one falls into the “there’s no way this wasn’t airbrushed on in a desperate attempt at attention” category. Congratulations, your bid for attention worked. Found here Read more

Pat Robertson: “Halloween is Satan’s Night”

Last updated on: September 28, 2011 at 10:26 am   By Zack Hunt

Halloween is just around the corner. Which is awesome because you can buy HUGE bags of candy and eat it all yourself! Oh, you’re supposed to give that candy out to kids? Sounds like begging to me. If they want candy, then they should get a job and buy their own candy. It’s the American way! Speaking of Halloween, this will probably come as a big shocker, but it turns out that Pat Robertson isn’t a big fan... Read more
