Searching for Truth: Arrogant? Or Audacious?

Last updated on: June 7, 2015 at 10:39 pm   By Frank Weathers

Back in the Fall, I shared thoughts of the Dalai Lama on the efficacy of religion, and those of G.K Chesterton as a counterpoint. As a result, I had someone charge me with being  arrogant for the attempt. (more…) Read more

My Bishop Gave the Homily at Stan Musials’ Funeral Mass

Last updated on: January 24, 2017 at 5:52 pm   By Frank Weathers

I’ve posted about Bishop Richard Stika a few times in the past. But to be honest, I don’t really know him. I don’t live in the parish close to the Chancery, and none of my children have been confirmed yet (though my oldest will be soon). So I can truthfully write that I have never shaken his hand, been introduced to him, or ever heard him speak in person. (more…) Read more

Last updated on: January 24, 2017 at 5:52 pm   By Frank Weathers

A couple of days ago, my blog neighbor Deacon Greg Kandra shared a news item about a Catholic hospital in Colorado that is a defendant in a wrongful death lawsuit. The story is noteworthy because the Catholic hospitals’ legal defense team argued that while the patient (who died seven years ago), Lori Stodghill, was indisputably a person, they noted that under Colorado law, her unborn twins, 28 weeks of gestation at the time of death,  are not considered persons. Last updated on: January 24, 2017 at 5:52 pm   By Frank Weathers

The Death of Christendom? December 15, 1791, when the Bill of Rights was Ratified

Last updated on: June 7, 2015 at 10:20 pm   By Frank Weathers

For those of you longing for the days of yore, when the culture was seemingly steeped in Christianity, and all acknowledged it as the one true faith, I’ve got some news for you. Though the faith is alive and well, Christendom is dead and gone. Before you fall all over... Read more
