Romancing The Saints? Please…

Last updated on: January 24, 2017 at 6:53 pm   By Frank Weathers

Joe Six-Pack, here. I just wanted to let you know that as a Catholic, I’m fully aware that my vocation is to be numbered among the saints. As it turns out, that’s your destiny too. I’m not going to romanticize it, though. Don’t believe me? Love it? Leave it? Cry about it? Please. Just come to terms with it, umkay? (more…) Read more

Thanks to Our Mothers: Past, Present, and Future

Last updated on: January 24, 2017 at 6:53 pm   By Frank Weathers

This Sunday in the United States we celebrate our mothers. Though it is a secular holiday, it’s one of the best ones on the calendar. I want to wish a Happy Mothers Day to all of the mothers out there. The portrait above is by Mary Cassatt and is entitled Breakfast in Bed. I have very fond memories of being cuddled by my mother and of seeing my wife cuddle my children like this (before they grew into bean stalks!)... Read more

The Only Race I’m Interested In This Year Isn’t Decided In November

Last updated on: January 24, 2017 at 6:53 pm   By Frank Weathers

And I’m not sorry to say that. Far from it. The horse I’m backing is pictured above, and the race I’m referring to is held in LeMans, France, in June. But Frank! What about the race for POTUS? How do you not lay awake at night in fear of what is at stake? The country, man. OMG! (more…) Read more

YIMCatholic Is Back At Patheos, Obviously

Last updated on: January 24, 2017 at 6:53 pm   By Frank Weathers

It’s late on a Thursday night, but not too late to write a brief post saying, “You may not have noticed, but I’m back to blogging again.” Yep. Check out this graph, Having flown along on auto-pilot, see, at tree-top level, for approximately 9 months, YIMCatholic appears to be climbing again. I reckon the pilot woke up? (more…) Read more

For Things C.S. Lewis Said Shortly Before He Passed On…

Last updated on: January 24, 2017 at 6:53 pm   By Frank Weathers

You know how often you can find me scrolling the selections over at the Christian Broadcasting Network? Seriously? Recall how many unicorns you have ever seen, and you’ll be in the right ballpark. But just because I’m not a fan of The 700 Club doesn’t mean I won’t ever venture through their doors when finding something that strikes my fancy. Like what, you say? Like the transcript of an interview C.S. Lewis gave in 1963, that’s what. (more…) Read more

Because The Church Is Our Pillar Of Fire

Last updated on: January 24, 2017 at 6:53 pm   By Frank Weathers

For Christmas, we were given one of those little inspirational calendars. You know the kind. Every day you flip a page over and meet a new quote to great the day with. The person who bought ours got it from a nondenominational Christian community called Kenilworth Union Church. They call the calendar Day by Day, 2015.  (more…) Read more
