Praise Report: Michael Schumacher Has Regained Consciousness

Last updated on: January 24, 2017 at 5:12 pm   By Frank Weathers

Back in January I asked folks to pray for the 7 time Formula One champion’s recovery from a skiing accident. Schumacher was put in an induced coma in order to stabilize him after the accident. When his doctors tried to ween him off the ventilators, Michael did not wake up. That he has come out of the coma now is a huge step forward in his recovery. (more…) Read more

Because of Divine Frivolity

Last updated on: January 19, 2015 at 10:58 pm   By Frank Weathers

Times are tough all over. First we had the economic meltdown to contend with. Now we Catholics are watching our Church and our Pope get attacked by the same people who were attacking Goldman Sachs a few years ago, and Tiger Woods back in the day. Are the attacks justified? Where you sit is probably where you stand. But the fact of the matter is, the storm has been raging since day one on planet Earth. (more…) Read more

Why Erasmus Stayed Catholic (A Few Thoughts For Thursday)

Last updated on: June 9, 2015 at 2:20 pm   By Frank Weathers

I have never been an apostate from the Catholic Church. I know that in this Church, which you call the Papist Church, there are many who displease me, but such I also see in your Church. One bears more easily the evils to which one is accustomed. Therefore I bear with this Church, until I see a better, and it cannot help bearing with me, until I shall myself be better. And he does not sail badly who steers a... Read more

Were The Tuam Children Denied Baptism?

Last updated on: January 18, 2015 at 2:55 pm   By Frank Weathers

That was one of the damning charges of the story that rolled out of Ireland a few weeks ago. Short answer? No. For the longer answer comes Kevin Clarke, writing over at America magazine, reporting that this was another overblown part of the alleged story coming from the home of friendless babies. Take a look. (more…) Read more

I’m Going To Go Out On A Limb Here, And Say I Prefer My Parish Priest To Be Armed Like Sheriff Andy Taylor

Last updated on: January 24, 2017 at 5:12 pm   By Frank Weathers

Which is to say without any temporal weapons. Unfortunately, the tragedy in the FSSP  parish in Phoenix, Arizona, took a dreadful turn when the surviving priest’s firearm was used in the slaying of young Fr. Kenneth Walker. In case you missed Deacon Greg’s post this morning, there is more information about this in The Week, (more…) Read more

Got Five Minutes? Learn Some Catholic History

Last updated on: September 8, 2016 at 6:38 pm   By Frank Weathers

Good news, dear reader. McNamara’s Blog has fired up again. My learned friend, Pat McNamara has also come up with a great idea on taking Catholic history out of the ivory tower, and bringing it down to where it belongs, e.g., with the sheep. Behold! Catholic History in Less Than Five Minutes. Here’s the first episode. (more…) Read more

The Quest For The Origins Of The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity

Last updated on: June 7, 2015 at 10:39 pm   By Frank Weathers

That question is why I picked up my torch and started on a quest to find the origins of this feast day. In truth, an amicable tussle with a friend of mine is what led me on the search to solve this riddle. Want to come along?... Read more
