Why I Can’t Find My Coffee Mug, Explained

Last updated on: January 24, 2017 at 6:18 pm   By Frank Weathers

Well, maybe. Walking through doorways robbed my memory, or so says Professor Radvansky in this piece just published in Notre Dame News. We’ve all experienced it: The frustration of entering a room and forgetting what we were going to do. Or get. Or find. (more…) Read more

The New Mass Translation? The Marines In WWII Had That.

Last updated on: December 27, 2014 at 12:09 am   By Frank Weathers

Well, it’s pretty close, from what I can tell. And it makes a handy little pocket guide for the changes coming upon us when the New Translation kicks in this first Sunday of Advent. I didn’t have to invent the Flux Capacitor to find out about it either. Caveat emptor: the language is more along the lines of what is found in the Douay-Rheims translation of the Bible. There are Thee’s, Thy’s, and Thou’s, rather than the more modern version... Read more

Joan of Arc, Joan Jett and More

Last updated on: January 24, 2017 at 6:18 pm   By Frank Weathers

I skipped Music for Mondays yesterday. So in this holiday shortened week I’ve got some more Joan of Arc music for you, and more good girls we love. I shared the first part of this series last week. Truthfully, that is where most of the good stuff was. Today I’ve got a few more stragglers, and then I move on to other good girls that kick ass, like St. Joan. Huh? (more…) Read more

Because Nice Girls Kill Vampires

Last updated on: June 7, 2015 at 11:36 pm   By Frank Weathers

Some folks wonder if we are Facebooking ourselves to death. I say no. The reason? Because unrelated Friend “A” posts a great photograph like the one you see above. Silly me shares it on my wall, and even over there in the ghost town of Google+. (more…) Read more

Major Oak is Headed to Nagasaki Tomorrow!

Last updated on: January 24, 2017 at 6:18 pm   By Frank Weathers

Ian Higgins writes from the studio, As our Phase 2 campaign comes to an end we’re packing our bags and making last minute preparations for our trip to Japan. It’s going to be a very busy 10 days but we’re very excited at the thought of all the great footage we’ll come back with. (more…) Read more

The Ayn Rand Movie Recall Hilarity

Last updated on: May 23, 2016 at 8:34 pm   By Frank Weathers

This might be an Onion story but…this just in: 100,000 Atlas Shrugged DVD’s Recalled for Perfectly Hilarious Reason In what appears to be a legitimate press release on the blog of the official Atlas Shrugged Part I website, the producers of the film have announced that they will “replace more than 100,000 title sheets appearing on the Atlas Shrugged Part 1 DVD and Blu-ray versions.” Sounds like a pain in the ass. Why? Did child porn pics somehow show up... Read more

For “Flannery O’Connor Nite” at the Movies

Last updated on: May 23, 2016 at 8:34 pm   By Frank Weathers

As I was reading Flannery O’Connor’s first novel Wise Blood, I couldn’t help thinking that this was almost tailor made for adaptation to the screen by the Coen Brothers. Then I found out that iconic film director John Huston had made the film version of Wise Blood in 1979. (more…) Read more

I’m The Worst Film Producer Ever UPDATED

Last updated on: January 24, 2017 at 6:18 pm   By Frank Weathers

It’s true. Good thing being a film producer isn’t my day job, or my friends over at Major Oak Entertainment, Ian and Dominic Higgins, would have fired me long ago. Here they are trying to pack their bags for the trip to Nagasaki (they fly out on November 22), all the while knowing that the funding fuel tank is almost bone dry. Is it all my fault? Because the Reality of Our Fallenness Isn’t Pretty-UPDATED

Last updated on: June 7, 2015 at 11:36 pm   By Frank Weathers

David Brooks explains it pretty well in his Op-Ed in New York Times from a few days ago, People are really good at self-deception. We attend to the facts we like and suppress the ones we don’t. We inflate our own virtues and predict we will behave more nobly than we actually do… (more…) Read more
