All In….

Last updated on: April 9, 2014 at 9:12 am By David Matthew Brown

I was listening to a person recently complaining about how life stinks. So I asked him, “Are you all in?” He was dumbfounded”What do you mean?” I repeated, “Are you all in?” He thought about it, “In life, career, relationship?” I said, “Don’t try to find it, you know if you are all in. If you were all in you wouldn’t have time to talk about others and complain so much about what isn’t happening.” Life when lived fully in... Read more

Resurrection

Last updated on: April 8, 2014 at 10:22 am By David Matthew Brown

As we approach Easter we are reminded of the resurrection of Jesus. Yet each and every day we are called to resurrect ourselves. On Sunday I spoke and talked about three steps to selfless living. The first is the recognition of our ideal’s. Each of us has them. For example, the ideal relationship, job, spiritual practice, health, and money, just to name the major one’s. All ideal’s mean simply I-Dealing with perfection. The ideal is always about some perfect way... Read more

Maori And The Heart

Last updated on: April 7, 2014 at 10:06 pm By David Matthew Brown

“Two roads diverged in a wood, I chose the one less traveled and that has made all the difference” Robert Frost I had the wonderful opportunity to get my wings and speak in New Zealand. I spoke on the heart, and shared my experiences with lots and lots of people. Very, very grateful. “When I ask you to point to yourself, where do you point?” I mentioned to the group, they smiled, and someone spoke up, “My heart.” I... Read more

The Rich Man

Last updated on: March 1, 2014 at 12:21 pm By David Matthew Brown

There was a man of many riches, he owned everything in the city, he had all that people yearned for, worked for, and one day fell in love, and lost everything. One day in the court yard he was approached by a man who noticed the rich man, “Sir didn’t you own that huge building made of gold?” The man smiled, “I did.” “What happened?” “I found love and lost everything that brought me misery, and now I have everything.... The Beggar Of Thanksgiving

Last updated on: February 28, 2014 at 10:39 am By David Matthew Brown

There was a man begging in the fields, as he was begging another man approached. The man begging started to cry, and the other man asked if he was okay. The beggar said, “My fields are dried up and I can not plant.” The man asked, “Have you been thankful?” The beggar thought, “No, I figured the fields would always be taken care of.” And the two sat in silence, and finally the man said to the beggar, “Faith without... The Shepherd

Last updated on: February 19, 2014 at 11:48 am By David Matthew Brown

The Shepherd By David Matthew Brown A young shepherd Wandered the countryside with it’s sheep He noticed off in the distance a wolf He knew that there were a pack wolves around He felt in his gut A nervous feeling He stopped his sheep And stood in stillness The young shepherd Knew he must protect his sheep From the wolves But had only a staff The nerves in his belly picked up as he saw More wolves coming closer The... Running In Place (RIP)

Last updated on: February 10, 2014 at 9:24 pm By David Matthew Brown

There is something very freeing when doing a show based on your writing, and also very vulnerable. Tonight I chuckled, as I was running in place. I had this image in my mind of my life, seeing all the places that scared me, frightened me, places where I hid, or ran from, and yet it appeared like I was running in place the whole time. Jackson Brown has a lyric that says, “I look around for the friends that I... Read more

The Theater- The Fool

Last updated on: February 10, 2014 at 10:22 am By David Matthew Brown

I have not performed on stage for over 9 years, I left stage when I got married, and then had a child, and then moved through a divorce. I have learned many lessons through that cycle, and lately the biggest lesson is how much I love creating. I am wired to create. I have missed it. So as I journal this, I sit on a barren stage, looking out into the house of seats, and my blood tingles with excitement... Read more
