Ostara Rituals for Solitary Practitioners

Last updated on: March 13, 2020 at 1:05 pm   By Lisa Wagoner

Ostara, a time of reawakening, a time of balance between light and dark, as we honor the Spring Goddess Ostara, whose name means "movement toward the rising Sun": how do you celebrate? If you are not able to be with community during this fertile time, solitary rituals can resonate and provide much needed focus as the Wheel of the Year turns ever onward. Read more

Heading into Ostara: First, Let Things Go

Last updated on: March 5, 2020 at 11:00 am   By Lisa Wagoner

Ostara and the Vernal Equinox are soon upon us, and in the impending joy of warmer weather and the eagerness to be outside and work in our gardens, it is important to let a few things go first. While we hibernate in the winter, and revel in the dark, we tend to rush headlong into the light, forgetting to bury or shed certain things before springing forward.  Read more

The Joy of Kitchen Altars

Last updated on: February 23, 2020 at 9:37 am   By Lisa Wagoner

The kitchen is the hearth center of the home, a place where we spend lots of energy, time and magick. It's a place of creation, comfort and security. Whether your kitchen is more of a pit stop on the way to the living room, or the center of your home, the kitchen remains a focal point in most cultures. For witches especially, it is a place of creation and magical intentions. Read more

The Road to Ordination

Last updated on: February 9, 2020 at 9:07 am   By Lisa Wagoner

My journey to ordination began few years ago, and was made official recently. I took the seven days before the actual ordination day on Imbolc to honor Brigid, who asked that I be ordained in her name, and it was filled with many moments of connection, honor and fulfillment. Read more

Brigid and Imbolc

Last updated on: January 25, 2020 at 7:34 pm   By Lisa Wagoner

Imbolc is a special time of year. The faint whisper of Spring is in the air, and a celebration to honor the goddess Brigid (Brighid, Bride, Brigit) is soon to arrive at the first of February. Imbolc to me is red and gold, clouties, blackberry leaves, milk and butter, tending the fire, candles, preparing the hearth and home, clearing out the old, magical moments, drinking beer, writing poetry, and celebrating all that is the goddess Brigid. Read more

Listening To Your Deities

Last updated on: January 19, 2020 at 10:31 am   By Lisa Wagoner

When faced with a decision, do you listen to your deities or assert your free will? Do you sometimes want to take the easy way out? Wonder why the deities want you to do this certain thing when it's so darn unpleasant? Do you have the endless why?, followed by resignation, followed by doing what they ask, all the while grumbling with more why?! Recently, I was at a crossroads, and amazing things happened when I listened to my deities. Read more

The Endless Judgmentalism of Paganism

Last updated on: January 15, 2020 at 3:31 pm   By Lisa Wagoner

When an article is shared widely that doesn’t respect witchcraft or Paganism, the inevitable backlash rolls across my social media feed like clockwork. Yet we are also judgmental within Paganism with fellow practitioners, so what is the answer? Read more

Using the Liminal Space Before the New Year

Last updated on: April 13, 2020 at 5:51 pm   By Lisa Wagoner

The liminal space is defined as the space between "what was" and "what's next". To me, no better time period personifies this than the space between Christmas/Yule/All the Holidays and the New Year. The celebrations have been celebrated, food has been eaten into infinity, and the merriment is wearing a bit thin. Use this liminal space before the new year to work some magic for the coming year. Read more
