Wild Goose West Releases First Lineup for Labor Day Weekend Festival
Today, Wild Goose announces the first seven members of our lineup for Wild Goose West, the festival debuting in Benton County, Oregon on Labor Day Weekend. [Read the announcement about Wild Goose West here.]
You can pick up $99 early bird tickets for a limited time here and come join us on site, amidst a 29-acre grove of historic oak trees outside of Corvallis, Oregon (about 90 miles from Portland).
Speakers
FATHER RICHARD ROHR is a Franciscan priest of the New Mexico Province. He founded the New Jerusalem Community in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1971 and the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1986. He presently serves the Center for Action and Contemplation as Founding Director. Father Rohr is a widely sought-after speaker and the author of many books including Falling Upward: A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life and Breathing Under Water: Spirituality and the Twelve Steps.
ALEXIA SALVATIERRA is an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church and a leader in the New Sanctuary Movement who is dedicated to protecting immigrants against human rights violations. She draws from over 30 years of experience in ecumenical, multi-faith and community ministry, community organizing and legislative advocacy.
BRIAN MCLAREN is an author, speaker, activist and public theologian. A former college English teacher and pastor, he is an ecumenical global networker among innovative Christian leaders. His next book, Why Did Jesus, Moses, the Buddha and Mohammed Cross the Road: Christian Identity in a Multi-Faith World, will be published just as Wild Goose West is taking flight.
NADIA BOLZ-WEBER is the founding pastor of House for All Sinners and Saints, an ELCA mission church in Denver, Colorado. She’s a leading voice in the emerging church movement and her writing can be found in The Christian Century and Sojourners’ “God’s Politics Blog.” She is the author of Salvation on the Small Screen? 24 Hours of Christian Television (Seabury 2008) and the Sarcastic Lutheran blog.
RICHARD TWISS is an enrolled member of the Sicangu Lakota Oyate from the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. He has been married to Katherine since 1976 and they have raised four respectful sons. They co-founded Wiconi International in 1997 and Richard serves as president. He is a widely-traveled and popular speaker, activist, educator, author and networker among innovative thinkers in the North American community.
Performers (as announced by Wild Goose’s resident bard, Todd Fadel)
MENOMENA – Damaged-art pop is the trademark of this Portland-based wunder-group. Sax blasts and foot taps and sweet hamonic harpoons will accompany each delicious listen. Google for the videos of these Pitchfork-approved gentle giants and you will not be disappointed.
LINDA HORNBUCKLE – Stretching back and forth over the breadth of R & B and blues with gospel flourish, Oregon Music Hall of Famer, Ms.Hornbuckle, wrings out the solid souls that drips out of each of us. First known for singing with popular Portland pop groups Nu Shooz, Quarterflash and Dan Reed, she’s laid claim to hallowed musical ground and pitched a tent in our hearts.
