A Quiet Conspiracy – Tom Sine

LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

I’ve had the delight of participating at Greenbelt five or six times over the past 20 years. I’m so grateful to God that the art, music, spontaneous celebrations and prophetic voices that have characterized the UK’s premier gathering are now coming to the United States. There’s nothing like this justice-art-music-spirituality festival in America. Now is a good time for this event.

American Christians need to hear voices that transcend the shrill polarization and fear-mongering that have attracted the masses. We need voices that remind us of Jesus’ call to reach out to the poor and the vulnerable, care for God’s good creation and love those with whom we disagree. We need to hear music and experience art that reminds us that the creator God has not lost control of his creation. We need to be reminded that God will bring healing to the broken, justice to the poor and peace to the nations.

I pray that the Wild Goose Festival will challenge us to discover a dream that calls us beyond ourselves for life in these troubled times.

I cannot wait to see you there!

Tom Sine has many gifts, including the gift of disorientation. When he travels without his wife Christine, he often winds up in unexpected places, and he shares these adventures in stories that have the stuff of legend. He and Christine live with a growing community of friends in the Mustard Seed House in Seattle, where they grow 50% of their vegetables on an urban lot and specialize in hospitality for the creative and disaffected. Over many years, Tom worked as a social worker, an educator and has headed up a community development project in Haiti for World Concern. These days he spends a lot of time learning what God is doing through a new generation of innovators. He’s the author of The New Conspirators, teaches as an adjunct at Fuller Theological Seminary in Seattle, and is co-founder of Mustard Seed Associates.
