Time to get started on wedding planning for my interfaith/intercultural Hindu and Scottish wedding! It’s going to be… interesting.

The first step, I think, is to get inspiration and ideas. To see how my thoughts can integrate into a cohesive whole.

Here are a few great finds from the comments on my wedding announcement post of non-Indian Hindu weddings! I said I hadn’t ever seen a Hindu wedding where neither the bride nor the groom was non-Indian and our friends pipped up with a couple of examples…

Now, of course, my wedding is not purely Hindu. It would be simple enough, I suppose, to get a priest and do what he told us. But we’re an interfaith couple and we’re going to reflect elements from both as well as elements of our cultural heritage. (Although, there are more developments happening on the officiant side, so I’ll be giving you a post about that in the future).

Here are some images from an interfaith wedding where the bharat is non-Indian:

And an interfaith Jewish/Hindu wedding:

How about some Buddhist and Hindu weddings at my favorite site: A Practical Wedding? (I am so submitting my wedding for a wedding graduate post there!)

I have 25 pounds to lose before I can order the sample of the wedding dress I want (there will be a post to show off that beauty!). The truth is, I still see myself at a particular weight that I consider to be my normal, but I haven’t been that weight in about three years. Which isn’t too long. And I’m only 25 pounds off. So I want to be back to normal. I’m going to let you follow along with my progress on getting in shape. Why? Because it’s part of wedding stuff and also because every thing that I do in my life is based in my spirituality, even the mundane and every day things! Plus I don’t have another good place to show it.

So here is my start photo!

You can’t see the writing on the shirt here, unfortunately. It says Future Mrs. on it! (Yes, that would be Lord Shiva over my left shoulder!)

Here is what I’ve done so far this week:
