Margaret Young has taught creative writing and literature for twenty-seven years at Brigham Young University.  She has published two short story collections, six novels, had three plays produced, made or directed three documentaries and published numerous scholarly articles on race and religion.

As president of the Association for Mormon Letters, she has coordinated and directed two conferences.  She has a play forthcoming in a collection of LDS plays, which tells the story of Jane Manning James, black LDS pioneer.  Concurrently, she has an article on race and Mormonism (co-authored with Darius Gray) soon to be released with other essays by Oxford Press.  She lectures frequently on blacks in the west and on the race issue in Mormonism.
