- The Power of Healing Waters
The Power of Healing Waters

They say that time heals all wounds. In my case, it has been the healing waters of truth that have healed my soul. Standing with the sword of truth can be incredibly lonely. Last September, when I stepped away from service at the spring and exposed what was happening behind closed doors, I was immediately demonised.

Annwyn at Chalice Well with the Glastonbury Bronze Bowl, collecting healing waters.
Folks who called me friend and sister immediately turned their back on me and joined the bandwagon of slander and gossip. The town erupted with gossip, stories, and I retreated into solitude. I sat in the silence of spiritual death with my shadow and looked deep and hard into who I was and how I was going to move forward. I tried desperately to leave Avalon. Avalon would not let me leave.
Imbolc Tide
It was a particularly icy January day. It was cold but bright and sunny. I was working in my shed. One of Dion Fortune’s famous sleeping sheds, the last one that has survived. It has become my temple, workspace, and office. A voice inside of me began urging me to take my bronze cauldron and go first to the Chalice Well and to fill it halfway with water. I resisted at first. I was still angry; I was still hurt by how I had been treated and by how some of the staff had contributed to my leaving the White Spring. The voice grew louder and louder until I could no longer ignore it.
I grabbed my cauldron and walked over. I gathered my water and sat near the wellhead. The head gardener, who had always been very kind to me, was the only one in the garden besides me. He came over to remove some of the dead blossoms from the well head and spoke some very kind words to me, which made me cry. He told me that no matter what had happened, and what politics were at play, the garden was my home and I was always welcome there. This shifted everything. I left the garden and went across to the White Spring. I filled my cauldron with water and sat in the shrines for a little while before returning home.
I stepped out into public for the first time at Imbolc. I was well received by the folks, and the energy at the Chalice Well was strong. The White Spring was mixed. Some folks were happy to see me, others not so much. By Beltane, though, I had received numerous apologies from many of the keepers, though I am still waiting for some.

Beltane Tide
Beltane brought about an interesting energy, and I got to experience the town and festivities for the first time without being exhausted by sacred service. I was up at dawn and jumped the fire at the Chalice Well, then watched Morris dancing and chatted with familiar faces. I spent time with the May Queen before she was called forth by her consort and watched the procession from my driveway. I really enjoyed having zero responsibilities and weaving my way around Avalon and from community to community.
I then began preparing for the Portuguese Goddess Conference, which shifted things even further. This year, the theme was Water! So I was invited to be a special guest at the event and loved every moment of it. The Portuguese Goddess Conference Team is amazing, and their community is so lovely and welcoming. I am so grateful to the sacred waters for bringing us together.
The sacred waters also brought together many Priestesses from Avalon. Many Priestesses from the UK were also there, making it a bilingual conference. I got to share a taxi with the lovely and fun Manchester Priestesses and share space with familiar faces that I had seen but never really got to know while living in Glastonbury. It really blows my mind how leaving the Avalon vortex allowed me to get to know women who I live right next to! Women who work as Priestesses in town, with whom I share so much in common. Glastonbury really can be such a large small town sometimes.
Water washes everything clean, including reputations tainted by lies, gossip and insecurity. It also gave those who never got to know me, my body of work, an opportunity to see who I truly am, the real me. Truth really does Conquer ALL.
After a year (2025) of turbulent and poisoned waters. I am glad to report that 2026 has been a year of healing waters, of healing the waters within me. Of experiencing healing waters in the physical world and allowing them to show me a new way of experiencing Avalon. A new way to walk through Glastonbury, a rebirth of my spirit, and a renewal of my faith and trust in Avalon and the sacred waters that flow through the physical and spiritual landscapes. I am looking forward to seeing what the second half of the year brings and how I can deepen my experience of these healing waters within myself and in my relationship with Avalon and Glastonbury. There is still work to be done; there are still battles left to fight and foes yet to face, but I will do it from a place of sacred healing, with the energies of water balanced in and around me.
