This week there’s been a lot of news about U.S. Attorney Janine Pirro over the alleged vandalism of the reflecting pool. At first she was adamant that it was vandalism that damaged the pool after Pres. Trump’s nearly $16 million beautification project.

But this week she did a 180 and dismissed four of the cases of vandalism, including former Olympian David Hearn, who had already pleaded not guilty to the charges. The US attorney received her law degree in 1975 from Albany Law School and has held numerous legal positions before she began her career in media and then eventually became the US attorney.
Once she realized there was no legal standing for the cases, she quickly disagreed with the president, who has since attacked and retaliated against his own choice for US attorney, just because she isn’t doing his will.
The president demands loyalty and compliance to his will above all else. It is well documented that he will use his power to terminate anyone whom he doesn’t deem fit. The president’s ways contradict the teachings and ways of God:
- Prideful
- Oppressive
- Dishonest
- Selfish
President Trump is so used to being a boss of his own businesses, but he doesn’t understand that being a leader is different (Exodus 18:21, Matthew 20:25-28, Philippians 2:3). Mankind’s sinful nature corrupts our hearts and distorts our motivation (Genesis 6:5, Jeremiah 17:9-10).
That is why we must be aware of power, because too much will corrupt us, regardless of political affiliation. People who tried to politicize sin and hell are biblically ignorant and bring judgment upon themselves (Isaiah 5:20-23, Matthew 23:13-15). Only God is our Lord and Master (Deuteronomy 6:4-5, Matthew 4:10).
What Is a Master
I began this series earlier this year on the names of God to emphasize His Lordship and power instead of the idols of this world. As God’s people, we can only have and serve one Master; everything else is just idols (Matthew 6:24, Luke 16:13).

A master is defined as, “A person or ruler who has power or control over others, animals, or servants: a superior.” Masters own, rule, and care for those under them. They will care for their servants because they need to take care of their property. If God is our Lord and Master, then He will provide for us; servants can trust their masters.
Lord and Master are interchangeable in the Bible. That is why the Bible has a lot to say about masters (Romans 14:4, 2 Corinthians 4:5, Colossians 3:22, 1 Peter 2:18). Both the Old Testament and New Testament writers often identify themselves as servants of God (Joshua 24:29, Romans 1:1).
God’s people don’t get to serve themselves or the idols of this fallen kingdom (Joshua 24:14-15, Romans 6:12-13, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20). God’s people can only bow to and serve one Master (Acts 5:29, Romans 6:16-18, 1 Corinthians 10:20-22, Revelation 22:8-9). The apostles remembered their Jewish education about our Lord and Master.
**‘Ǡḏôn
The Torah tells us Abraham asked his Master for a lineage, since Abraham and’s own bondservant would receive the estate if he didn’t have an Heir (Genesis 15:2).
The master/servant relationship was common and mutually beneficial in the Old Testament. The Hebrew word in the Old Testament for master is*‘āḏôn* and it can also mean “Lord, owner, masters, or Sir,” depending upon the context it is used in.
A master was responsible for caring for their servants because the servants did the master’s business (Leviticus 25:39-43, Exodus 21:26-27, Deuteronomy 15:12-15, Job 31:13-15). Judaism views God as their Master since He freed God’s people from bondage and hardship (Isaiah 1:3; 54:5, Jeremiah3:14, Malachi 1:6).
That is where one of the most beloved names of God in the Old Testament Adonai, comes from, and it helps keep God’s sacred name Yahweh holy. Interestingly, it is the plural form of āḏôn. Each of the 12 tribes of Israel promised to serve their Master:
- Ruben
- Simeon
- Levi
- Judah
- Dan
- Naphtali
- Gad
- Asher
- Issachar
- Zebulun
- Joseph
- Benjamin
Jewish prophecy states that the Messiah would descend from the tribe of Judah, which Jesus did (Genesis 49:10, Hebrews 7:14). The disciples often identify Jesus as their Lord and Master (Matthew 14:28-33, Luke 9:54, John 6:68-69; 11:27; 13:13-14; 20:28).

Jesus taught His followers to be servants to others (Mark 10:42-45, Luke 22:24-27). Our Rabbi taught His followers that greatness in His Kingdom was serving (Mark 9:33-37). He demanded loyalty to God above everyone and everything else because only God is our Master (Matthew 6:24; 22:37-38, Luke 14:26-27).
Cyber Attacks
In other big news this week, there was a potential cyber attack against water treatment facilities in Minnesota. Although President Trump tried to blame the problems on its democratic governor and how the state was being run, skeptics in the intelligence community know better. Once again, Pres. Trump wants to politicize evil.

Cyber
It didn’t take long before water treatment facilities and other states began experiencing attempts to hack into their water systems, including Georgia, where I live. Later it was revealed that both the FBI and the EPA had already warned the president about potential threats to the American infrastructure.
Of course, the president disregarded his own administration’s advice, because he believes he knows better; instead of caring for the sheep, he is looking out for his own interests. Just as Scripture warns us of what false Christs would do in the last days (Matthew 24:4-5, John 10:1-42, 2 Corinthians 11:13-15):
- Prideful
- Unloving
- Violent
- Selfish
Donald Trump has always demanded loyalty above all, because he wants to be in control. He wants to be served himself instead of serving others. The president has forgotten that the office of president is a public servant who is supposed to serve the people, not his own selfish interests.
The president and his followers are focused on only a temporary kingdom, instead of serving God and His Kingdom purposes. As we end this series on God’s names, we need to remember that we cannot serve two masters; we either serve idols or Adonai!
