Buzz, Buzz …. Buzz, Buzzz…. It’s the middle of the night, and for better or worse, phone calls at all hours come with the job of being a Voodoo priestess. Buzz, Buzz …. I don’t make it to the phone on time, but when I listen to the message it is one I’ve heard many times before.

My ex was a Witch … or a Wiccan … or OTO … or Santeria… or Vodou … or a Pagan practitioner and now that we aren’t together any more … I think they are hexing me.

Love makes strange bedfellows, and even stranger and more desperate enemies. The truth is that there are people who can be hateful and hurtful to people they love even when they are in a relationship, and when it ends, things can turn downright ugly. Maybe your ex is posting demonic sigils on their facebook page, or stealing your hair. Maybe you walked in and found your photo in the center of a Satanic altar. Unfortunately, I have heard it all. The first thing you need to do is figure out how you want to respond.

#1 How Do You Want To Respond To This Hex? Are you Martin Luther King Jr. or Malcolm X? By this I mean do you advocate non-violent resistance, peace, and love in the face of hatred and cruelty or do you take an eye for an eye in a revenge struggle? No value judgments from me here, you just need to decide what you want to do before you start to do it. Some people would advocate buying a little coffin like the one pictured here (I got this from the popular craft store Michael’s,) writing your ex partner’s name on it and burying it at the grave of a criminal. This is obviously extreme, and will most likely produce extreme results, and maybe not the ones you desire. I knew one witch who used to do a travel spell for her former lovers to send them to Canada. I have also met several Canadians who say they send their ex’s to the U.S.

#2 Do You Have Personal Items From Your Ex ? Any magickal working from sending your ex far away to making them pay for their injustice will be helped with a personal item from them. This can be a photograph, their signature, or something similar. This will be necessary to strengthen your magick.

#3 Are You Protected? This is probably the most important question. You should ask yourself this regularly, even if you aren’t going through a bad breakup. You should remember to protect your home and yourself. You can Make A Magickal Protection Window Box , burn some Vesta Powder, or make an Ancestor Bag for Protection. Be sure to light a white candle and observe how it burns, if it burns smoky or turns the glass black you may need to perform more protection work.

#4 Seek Help By all means get some outside help or advice about your situation. This could be a psychic reading, advice from a friend, or just another perspective. Acknowledge you are going through a difficult time and realize you don’t have to do it alone.
