LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

The Renaissance Faire this weekend was lovely.  I’m putting up two photos here, and I want to give credit where it’s due.  I made my dress last summer using Butterick pattern B4571,  which was easy to follow.  I adapted the pattern for my boyfriend’s surcoat from a tutorial on Corvus Tristis.  I got the insignia by googling “hufflepuff badger” until I found something I could trace.  Oh, and I only wish I could claim I had something to do with the armor in the picture at the end, but I bought that at the fair.

If you prefer your nerdiness a little more high-tech and futuristic, I’ve just found out that Portal is available as a free download through Tuesday.  I’ve always heard it highly recommended (Ars Technica wrote: “Portal is one of the rare games that can change the way we think about the world, how we view the physical space around us.”), so I’m really excited to give it a try.  Like pattern alteration, Portal turns on spatial reasoning.

I’ll get something up to start responding to comments on “The Soup Nazi Approach to Sex” this afternoon or early tomorrow.  In the meantime, here’s another shot of our costumes.
