Water. Peanut butter. Water. Water. Peanut butter. Water. Water.
This pattern is consistent on almost a daily basis.
Because I am not a big fan of beans, my default source of protein is the sticky, icky, ooey, gooey, paste of thickness of PB. I like it, well at least in week one. But large quantities are causing me to need to drink about 2 glasses of water for every one PB & J tortilla wrap.
Good news – I am getting more than my daily quota of clear liquid refreshment, which is uncommon under other circumstances. Actually, if I wasn’t in such a pattern of consumption, it would mean that I have a urinary tract infection for all of the added trips to the restroom… well, or at least over-active bladder. Did someone just say “TMI” and did I just say that on the World Wide Web? Well, I guess I’m into keepin’ it real.
Bad news – This weekend as I settled into said pattern, the reminder of how privileged I truly am hit me once again. I drink water so that I can wash down my excess of organic peanut butter. My fridge is an endless supplier of chilled, filtered, parch-relief, while billions of folks wish they could simply have water that didn’t bequeath parasites and other sicknesses.
This was another great reminder from God to appreciate all the rich blessings that I have and to push us all toward more generosity. Remember that we have a goal of raising $200 for Blood: Water Mission this Lent. I am encouraging all my readers to consider giving $2 to this cause as I continue to live on $2 a day. Here is where we are at thus far…
Now, I do want to add that so far I have stuck to my commitment, but today doesn’t even mark a full week yet. Nevertheless, I am proud to say that I was well under my $2 limit on two of the three days of the weekend. Below is a total of all that I ate:
