Plague rat pastor warns of the health dangers of homosexuality 2021-05-23T16:58:58+02:00 Barry Duke

PUBLIC health officials in Colorado last summer attributed two large COVID-19 outbreaks to conferences staged by pastor Andrew Wommack, above.

But the man who defied lockdown rules that resulted in one death and 134 infections showed no apparent concern at the time, and Andrew Wommack Ministries staged further events where health protocols were ignored. This led to several run-ins with the authorities and lawsuits.

Now it’s come to light that Wommack is concerned about people’s health – but apparently only with regard to the “destructive lifestyle” of homosexuality.

In a Monday podcast he suggested that gay people should wear warning labels on their foreheads to let others know that their sexuality could be “hazardous” to health.

Wommack made the comments while talking on a podcast about the high suicide rates among LGBTQ people – suicide rates that can be directly attributed to the hateful outpourings of  hateful bigots like him.

Said Wommack:

Homosexuals have like three times as much suicide as heterosexuals. And then you go into transgender and it just continues to go up, it’s a very destructive lifestyle.

He then compared homosexuality to smoking, saying cigarettes only take an average of seven years off of someone’s life, while homosexuality removes 20 years.

So homosexuality is three times worse than smoking. We oughta put a label across their forehead: This could be hazardous to your health.

In claiming shorter lifespans for gay people, Wommack was parroting a false claim made in 2012 by far-right Virginia Republican Bob Marshall above, a frothing homophobe who also hates transgenders.

PolitiFact pointed out that the research Marshall cited to support his claim was two decades old and was conducted near the height of the HIV epidemic.

There here have been tremendous advances in HIV treatment over the last 20 years and Marshall’s statement is a gross misrepresentation of the research.

PolitiFact added:

Marshall cites a number of other studies that show homosexuals face certain health risks. But none of them focused on the life expectancy of homosexuals, and they certainly didn’t conclude that gays die about 20 years earlier than heterosexuals.

In a delicious twist of fate, in 2017 Democrat Danica Roem, a transgender woman, unseated Marshall, Virginia’s longest serving and most socially conservative lawmakers.

Writing for LGBTQNation, Molly Sprayregen said:

Suicide rates are indeed higher in the LGBTQ community, but it has absolutely nothing to do with Wommack’s nonsensical ramblings and is actually related to the level of support in people’s lives.

A recent study from the Trevor Project on LGBTQ youth found that youth who have access to affirming spaces are less likely to attempt suicide. Those who experience discrimination are more likely. The study also found that transgender and nonconforming youth who live with affirming families are less likely to attempt suicide.

In the past, Wommack has also voiced support for the death penalty for homosexuality, as well as conversion therapy. He has also called conversion therapy bans “the spirit of Antichrist.”

Wommack also supported Uganda’s “Kill the Gays” bill, which he said was being repressed:

By the strong arm tactics of the pro-homosexual Western influence.

Earlier this year, he also said transgender rights activists are “controlled by the devil.”
