Alice: The Wonderland Oracle

I am happy to introduce to you the Alice: The Wonderland Oracle by Lucy Cavendish with artwork by popular artist, Jasmine Becket-Griffith. This Oracle Deck is a welcomed delight in the land of Alice, Fairy Tales and Divination. Once again, Blue Angel  has published a beautiful and useful deck for diviners.

Let me start with the problem that I have with most Oracle Decks. Being a Professional Tarot Reader, I find that most Oracle cards can be too light and fluffy. I could understand using most of them to lift your spirits. I could also see using them to encourage positive thinking. After-all, like energy attracts like energy. For example, if you think that you are going to have a bad day…guess what? You are more than likely going to have a bad day.

On the flip side, if you believe that you will have a great day, chances are, it is going to be much more easier to overcome challenges and have a great day. I tend to believe that most Oracle Decks are about the ‘feel good’ aspect and leave out what work you may really need to do to get to a better place. In my opinion, any form of Divination should be about the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

This deck did not disappoint me with any of these issues. I found encouraging words, but also cards that offered the reader a chance to take a good look at their inner shadows, but would you expect anything less from Alice?

Fantastic Duo

This is not the first time that Artist Jessica Becket Griffith has paired off with Author Lucy Cavendish. They have created many wonderful and popular decks, such as Oracle of the Shapeshifters, Oracle of Shadow and Light and my personal favorite, The Fairy Tale Oracle.

Jasmine Becket Griffith is known for her amazing artwork with big-eyed and cute characters. Each one adorably coming to life. Her Alice is no exception as she stares at you invitingly, asking you to reflect upon yourself and the questions you wish to have answered.

Lucy Cavendish writes with such ease that you will be informed whether you dive deep into the companion book to learn each and every card or simply pull one for the day and quickly reference. The book does not need to be read cover to cover in order to start enjoying these cards. It does include many sample spreads to use as well.

Overall View

What I loved most about this deck was that it captured Alice’s journey through Wonderland. It is like, but much simpler to understand than the journey of the Tarot’s Major Arcana Cards. Keep in mind that anything “Major” is a bigger deal. In Alice: The wonderland Oracle, you can relate to Alice’s journey much in the same way. Needless to say, you do not need to have any knowledge of Tarot to be drawn to and use this Oracle deck.

The Companion book is easy to read, easy to use. Beginners will be able to use this deck with ease. Experienced Diviners will use it with great enjoyment. The cards themselves, are easy to look into and to relate to the meaning(s) they hold. I highly recommend adding this deck to your collection and using it for your own personal growth and journey.
