My Journey from Faith to Wholeness

by Karl Forehand

For those leaving conformity behind…

When my former faith could no longer make sense of my present reality, I faced a choice: keep shrinking to fit the mold or embrace the quiet, frightening freedom of becoming whole.

I Used to be Small is both a deeply personal memoir and a practical guide for those navigating religious transition, deconstruction, and personal liberation. In place of dogma and performance, it offers honesty and self-compassion. Rather than offering another set of rigid answers, it encourages readers to embrace curiosity and ask meaningful questions, fostering a new openness. In the final 2 sections, Karl describes a path forward: asking deeper questions without demanding immediate answers and discovering processes and strategies that work better.
