I’ve given myself permission to take a break from mentoring, writing, and even a slower pace with our podcasts to recover from my recent heart event, and stent implant.

Please do what YOU can to stand up to racism, homophobia, Christian nationalism, Religious abuse, and whatever you call the current clown show in Washington.

Don’t accept what you have inherited as truth. Do the hard work of understanding the things that you are against. You can’t be against something you don’t understand. Most belief systems are born out of fear and I think we can all agree that fear is not the right foundation for wholeheartedness and love.

Above all, give yourself permission to take care of yourself. Regardless of what others say, it is your first priority. Any God or religion that teaches you to ignore your own needs is not worthy of your service

I have health issues because of my DNA and because I ignored the essential element of caring for myself and ignoring early warning signs like pain.

My mental health work has helped me navigate this most recent event and I have discovered useful strategies in all the stages of my deconstruction. For me, it didn’t happen in a church. You have to do what’s best for you.
