LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

“The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it.” Psalm 24:1

“We may find in the long run that tinned food is a deadlier weapon than the machine-gun.” – George Orwell

“Man seeks to change the foods available in nature to suit his tastes, thereby putting an end to the very essence of life contained in them.” – Sai Baba

“To put the bounty and the health of our land,  our only commonwealth, into the hands of people who do not live on it and share its fate will always be an error. For whatever determines the fortune of the land determines also the fortune of the people. If history teaches anything, it teaches that.” – Wendell Berry

Questions for Reflection

In the recent 40 Days for Food Justice project posts, we read about genetically modified world of the future, agroecology, and the changing face of farming. As we sit with the images, the stories and the perspectives that have been shared, reflect on the following questions:

1. What aspects of the industrial agriculture system and/or the conventional food system trouble you?

2. In what ways can you “opt out” of those aspects of the industrial / conventional food system?

3. Have you explored alternatives to the industrial/conventional options? What did you find?

4. Does the industrial / conventional system seem at odds with God’s good creation?

Food Justice Challenge

This week, explore alternatives to the industrial / conventional food system in your area.
