Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

I’m joining on the discussion #occultea started by Ella Harrison, The Redheaded Witch and the Polish Folk Witch: Social Media Witchcraft: Grifters, Aesthetics, Imposter Syndrome, Consumerism & Gatekeeping.
Here’s what what Leah (The Redheaded Witch) wrote about the project: “In this video, we chat about creating a space for this discussion that has been surfacing in the community for quite sometime. Collectively, we can agree that social media has had it’s negative and positive impacts. We constructed a series of prompts/questions pertaining to this subject matter with the hopes to create a community discussion for others to join, whether you’re a creator or not.”
They shared a 5 part questionnaire about some really important topics – and I’ve chaptered this out into each section below. You can find the original slides on their instagram accounts – @EllaHarrison @andthe.redheadedwitch or @polishfolkwitch – they shared the images with the following text:
“We are not looking to center ourselves – our hope is that other members of the community from all walks of life are compelled by this ongoing conversation to step up and take action – chime in, get involved, provide a platform. Go and invite your friends’ diverse voices to the table. Help share the vision, time, and energy of organizing a community discussion in the form of a larger live panel – where no individual is centred & everybody stands together in accordance with their means and ability.
We would like to extend an invitation towards ALL members of the occult & witchcraft community – not just content creators or big names, but everybody – to participate in dialogue centered around the lived realities surrounding social media content and the issues, as well as blessings that engaging with said content creates for us as a community. The idea is to create an opportunity and safe space to be open about our lived experiences of the challenges, aches & pains, matters of belonging, accessibility, authenticity, FOMO, grift & abuse, long-term impacts of the online world on our practice, and much more.”
