Biblical Violence: In Search of a Teachable Story

Biblical Violence: In Search of a Teachable Story 2014-06-05T15:33:51-05:00 Suzanne Ross

LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

If you were given 6 minutes and 40 seconds to speak about anything you wanted to a gathering of Christian educators, what would you say? 20 slides of your choosing will play along with your talk. That was my charge for the 2014 Faith Forward Conference in Nashville in May. You won’t be surprised to hear that I spoke about the importance of interpreting biblical violence with our children and youth. Below you’ll find a video of the slides with a voiceover of my talk.

You also won’t be surprised to hear that 6 minutes and 40 seconds was not enough for me to say everything that was on my mind and heart! So I wrote some articles on Christian formation and biblical violence which I’ll link to here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4. If you work with children and youth, either as a teacher or parent, I’d love to hear from you. How do you handle violent bible stories with your children?
