BREAKING: Trump Foundation to Dissolve, per Agreement With New York AG Office 2018-12-18T12:19:16-05:00 Susan Wright

“A shocking pattern of illegality.”

That is the description used by New York’s top prosecutor to describe the actions of the Trump family charitable organization, the Trump Foundation.

It was formed in 1987, but you’d be hard pressed to find any glowing reports of philanthropic works from that particular crew.

These days, it is but one more avenue for investigation into the potentially illegal activities of our current president and his brood.

In what is breaking news, it has been announced that in new court filings that the organization has made an agreement with the Attorney General’s Office of New York to dissolve, and distribute all its assets to other [actual] charitable organizations.

This is to take place over the next 30 days.

The agreement was signed off on by the Trump Foundation attorney, Alan Futerfas.

And just so there’s no confusion: This does not stop the lawsuit brought against the foundation by the attorney general. That’s still a thing. That’s going to have to play out.

From NBC News:

“Our petition detailed a shocking pattern of illegality involving the Trump Foundation — including unlawful coordination with the Trump presidential campaign, repeated and willful self-dealing, and much more,” state AG Barbara Underwood said in a statement.

“This amounted to the Trump Foundation functioning as little more than a checkbook to serve Mr. Trump’s business and political interests.”

As part of the agreement, the judge will oversee the distribution of those assets. He gets the say in which charities will benefit.

So, yeah.

And I’ll  say that, as a southern girl, for all my days, all I ever knew of Trump was what I saw on television for the years before he ran for the presidency. He was never anybody I paid a lot of attention to.

That being said, I’ve got quite a few friends in the Manhattan and New Jersey area. They had the benefit of knowing him as a “local guy” for all these years. You can talk to any of them about who Donald Trump was before he ran for office, and “crooked” is easily the kindest adjective that any of them would use.

None of this is a surprise to them.

The irony is that had Donald Trump kept his head down, rather than seeking out a bigger and bigger spotlight, he could have carried on with his grifter ways, passing the grift down to his brood, and it would have only caused brief ripples in the local scene.

This is a case where his ego and greed led him to a particularly bad place.

It’s also a great lesson for other disreputable men who may seek higher office.

Don’t do it. You can’t withstand the scrutiny.
