So what does he know?

Jerome Corsi, for those who aren’t familiar with the name, is an author and alt-right basement dweller. His more familiar compatriots are Trump associate and walking pustule, Roger Stone, as well as InfoWars lunatic, Alex Jones.

Corsi is also a premiere “birther,” having written a book about former President Barack Obama in 2011 called, “Where’s the Birth Certificate?”

You can probably draw a straight line from the book title to the corresponding internet hoax, along with the crowd that still clings to it.

CNBC News is reporting today on a story first reported by The Washington Post on Friday.

Mr. Corsi, fearing he will be put in prison, is in plea negotiations with special counsel Robert Mueller, regarding the Russia probe.

Corsi confirmed the talks, first reported by The Washington Post, to NBC News on Friday. Corsi’s attorney, David Gray, declined comment on the negotiations. A special counsel spokesman also declined to comment.

Corsi said in an interview with NBC earlier this month that Mueller’s team told him he would be indicted. Gray had previously told journalists the special counsel’s office likely put Corsi in its cross hairs because of his connections to Stone.

Well, the Bible says bad company corrupts good character, so if Mr. Corsi had any character that could be called good, to begin with, I guess his associations have now done him in.

Stone, a longtime confidant of President Donald Trump, hinted that he had advance knowledge of WikiLeaks’ plans to leak the emails from high-ranking Democrats, including Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign chairman John Podesta. The Post reported that Corsi provided research on Democrats to Stone during the campaign. Stone has since denied that he had any inside information about WikiLeaks.

The thing is, you can’t really put that particular horse back in the barn, after it has bolted across the barnyard and out into the open field.

Stone boasted to multiple individuals about his connections to Guccifer 2.0, the hacker allegedly responsible for the hack of the DNC emails. It was later discovered that Guccifer was not a lone, Romanian hacker, as was first reported, but actually several Russian intelligence agents.

Stone also made comments about the end of Hillary Clinton’s campaign, before the hacked emails dropped and chaos on the left ensued.

As news of Corsi’s cooperation with Mueller’s team was dropping earlier Friday, Stone spoke up.

In a statement, Stone said: “It is clear from his recent videos and his recent interviews that my friend Dr. Corsi has been under a tremendous amount of pressure and it is beginning to affect him profoundly.”

He added: “As for what he may have known and when he may have known it, his discussions with me regarding the Podesta brothers were strictly limited to their overseas business interests unearthed in the Panama Papers and other public sources that were writing about John and Tony’s activities. To the best of my recollection, there was not one publication, mainstream or otherwise, that ever mentioned John Podesta’s email prior to their posting by WikiLeaks. As I told The Washington Post if Dr. Corsi knew that John Podesta’s emails had been obtained by anyone and would be published he never shared this information with me nor did he give me any such documents.”

Did I catch a whiff of desperation there?

Maybe.

Corsi, on the other hand, is definitely spooked.

In a Nov. 12 phone interview, Corsi expressed his fear of indictment to NBC News, saying, “This was one of the most confusing and frightening things I’ve experienced. I’m 72 years and I’m afraid they’re going to lock me up and put me in solitary confinement.”

I have… questions.

If they have no knowledge of anything involving Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, then why are Jerome Corsi and Roger Stone so panicked?

It’s going to be an interesting holiday season.
