On Friday all the buzz was about actor and comedian, Tom Arnold, and the news that he would be working with Michael Cohen, the former attorney and “fixer” for Donald Trump, uncovering damaging videos of the president that may be archived somewhere out there.

The ultimate prize, of course, would be the Russian pee-pee tapes, but if those exist, they’re in Vladimir Putin’s private vault, I’m sure.

Still, Arnold was giddy in announcing the plans to work with Cohen and the new program he’ll be hosting on the Vice network, titled “The Hunt for the Trump Tapes.”

Among the things said by Arnold:

“We’ve been on the other side of the table and now we’re on the same side,” said Arnold, an outspoken Trump critic.

“It’s on! I hope he [Trump] sees the picture of me and Michael Cohen and it haunts his dreams.”

But he added: “This dude has all the tapes — this dude has everything.”

“I say to Michael, ‘Guess what? We’re taking Trump down together, and he’s so tired he’s like, ‘OK,’ and his wife is like, ‘OK, f*** Trump,’” Arnold said, laughing.

“Michael Cohen showed up and worked diligently above and beyond and sacrificed and Donald Trump is like I don’t even know who he is. You think Michael doesn’t notice that?” Arnold said.

Here’s the thing about Tom Arnold: He’s promised video or audio of Donald Trump before, but never produced it.

Arnold was a contestant on Trump’s reality TV show, “The Apprentice,” and claims to have material from that time.

Some say he never produced those incriminating tapes because he doesn’t have them, but it’s just as likely that he was saving them for this new Vice program.

Whatever the truth may be in this, Tom Arnold appeared on CNN Friday evening to discuss his claims and the plans for the show, and it was a glorious train wreck of the bizarre.

Exhausting.

Following that wild appearance, Michael Cohen, himself, decided to speak up and he’s throwing cold water all over Arnold’s claims.

Cohen wrote in a tweet that while he appreciated Arnold’s “kind words about me as a great father, husband and friend,” the pair had what he characterized as “a chance, public encounter in the hotel lobby where he asked for a selfie.”

“Not spending the weekend together, did not discuss being on his show nor did we discuss @POTUS,” Cohen wrote, adding “done” and “ridiculous.”

Having a chance meeting in a hotel lobby, then taking a selfie is a long way off from the collaborative sit-down that Tom Arnold described.

Somebody is not telling the truth.

Of course, there may not be a way to know for sure until the Vice program airs and we see if there is actual footage of Donald Trump, or if it’s a lot of Tom Arnold ranting about government mind control camps and beavers that steal his socks at night.

To be fair, Arnold also tweeted out an image in May of himself with former Trump business partner, Felix Sater, and from the cozy setting, it definitely wasn’t a chance meeting in a hotel lobby that brought them together.

There’s no way to really know who is telling the truth until the show airs. Until that time, let’s just keep our expectations low.
