I live in Pasadena, California.

I was not born in Pasadena, or Southern California. I lived in several places before moving to Pasadena.

Pasadena is a pleasant place to live. It is not perfect, but the climate and weather are very nice. Pasadena is not on the beach, but is nestled against the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. They  are an awesome sight on television each year during the Rose Bowl football game, and very impressive in person.

Pasadena has many attractive features, including a beautiful City Hall and the very first Trader Joe’s store. It is the home of the first freeway in California, where the original speed limit was 45 miles per hour. Pasadena is also the home of the California Institute of Technology and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Pasadena also has a unique history that shapes its present form. A hundred years ago, Pasadena was a resort where people from the Midwest who could afford it spent the winter.

The winter home built by Greene brothers for the Gamble family is fascinating. The Wrigley mansion is now the home of the Tournament of Roses, which hosts the annual parade at the beginning of January. There is a neighborhood of Craftsman bungalows.

Pasadena also has a number of parks, museums, and nonprofit organizations. It is a pleasant community with an interesting history.

There is even a Pasadena Museum of History.

On Saturday, June 22 the Pasadena Museum of History will be celebrating Pasadena’s birthday by Celebrating Bridges. The festivities will include bridges to history, bridges to innovation, and bridges to community, among others.

Among the other attractions and revelry, the museum will recognize local bloggers and writers as bridges to community.

I was very happy to be asked to participate, and will be live and in person at the Pasadena Museum of History at 1:00 PM PDT on Saturday.

If you can make it, I would be glad to see you.

Happy Birthday, Pasadena!
