As You Go

Last updated on: September 12, 2012 at 8:54 pm   By Osheta Moore

This post is coming to you later than I’d like, dear readers! Yesterday was a crazy day for the Moore fam. My dashing husband rescued a little chihuahua named, Monk and so for the afternoon we were babysitters of the sweetest dog we have ever met. Today I spent the morning getting my apartment ready for an appraisal that my landlord inflicts upon us annually and while my home smells wonderful, gleams beautifully, and is misleadingly organized, I have little... Read more

Shalom Seeking

Two weeks ago I watched portions of the RNC. Last week I viewed an equal amount of the DNC. I’ve been subjected to messages approved by candidates ad nauseum–and it’s only September. Last night I fell asleep to a documentary on CNN claiming to reveal the “real” Mitt Romney. At 3am, I woke up on our couch to a similar documentary about President Obama before shuffling off to my bed. I hate that the elections taint my favorite season. I... Read more

Diva with a Heart of Gold

Today Trinity started her second year of kindergarten. For some weird reason, Cambridge starts the kindergartners two days after the other grades. Now, can I just say that Trinity should be exempt from the “let the crazy die down in the halls before we introduce the young, frightened ones into the fray” rule? Nevermind she’s a senior kindergartner in the same class as last year–she is a little sister. Of two boys. Two very athletic, engergetic, reckless boys. Two boys... Read more

First Day of School Pictures

Last updated on: September 5, 2012 at 12:47 am   By Osheta Moore

The boys started school today! Happy, happy, joy, joy!  Sorry.  It’s been a long summer. “We’re so cool–we drink our organic Horizon’s chocolate milk right out of the carton–without a straw!” Can you tell these kids belong to urban ministers?  They are “throwing up” their grade level.  …and here’s the obligatory “bunny ear your bro” pose.  Yes, I love these boys.    Now get thee to school! Trinity is home with me until Thursday.  I’ll post her pics then.Love, Read more

Let’s Break the Ice

Last updated on: September 4, 2012 at 4:54 pm   By Osheta Moore

I hated icebreakers for the longest, but when I started the women’s ministry at our old church I actually found them to be not that bad—if you can have a sense of humor.  So, I thought I’d use two of the ones I hated the most and share a bit about me:   Shoe game:  You know that game where you have to take one of you shoes off, throw it in a pile, and  at the direction of the... Read more

Bossypants Tina Fey at work Enjoy my friends, an excerpt from Bossypants by Tina Fey: A Mother’s Prayer for It’s Daughter “First, Lord: No tattoos. May neither the Chinese symbol for truth nor Winnie-the-Pooh holding the FSU logo stain her tender haunches. May she be Beautiful but not Damaged, for it’s the Damage that draws the creepy soccer coach’s eye, not the Beauty. Breaking the Ice

Last updated on: May 27, 2011 at 11:28 am   By Osheta Moore

I was crying when it happened.  Laying prostrate on the floor in my living room letting tears soak my hair and the dust bunnies I missed under the couch, I wept for the first time since we evacuated New Orleans.  Oh sure, I’ve cried many times in the two years since we moved to Cambridge.  Cue the violins, send in the dog, make the toddler say something cute and I’m a mess with a Kleenex.  I’m just that sensitive.  But,... Read more
