“For the right reasons”… what an overused cliche that is! And oh yeah, it’s also the title of my book.
Here’s the truth, the people who go on the show believing from the beginning that they are there to meet their soulmate are always pretty strange. They might be there “for the right reasons” but they’re also usually out of touch with reality and a tad bit creepy. In my humble opinion, the people who actually do find love on The Bachelor are those who do the show for the experience. Catherine and I both had the same intentions going into the show – we both thought it would be a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel the globe for free and make some friends along the way. Of course we were both pleasantly surprised when we fell in love with each other.
But back to the creepers, I can tell you firsthand that there were a few women on my season who were convinced from the very first night that we were soul mates and they were going to marry me. This was revealed to me after a couple of five minute conversations. Needless to say, these particular women weren’t really connected to reality. Catherine on the other hand treated the experience like a sane person. She didn’t tell me she loved me or even liked me until several weeks into it after we had spent considerable time together. In fact, I felt like I had to work to gain her affection. In other words, the way Catherine treated the show and treated me showed me that she was a normal person in the midst of a very abnormal world.
