Financial Wizardry: Elements of Flow

Last updated on: February 27, 2019 at 12:26 am By Sonja Sadovsky

What is Financial Wizardry? I define this as the ability to create monetary flow. This can take a variety of forms: cash, equity, commodities, etc. It is the art and science of numbers and probability. Many times I hear Pagan contemporaries describe the virtues of spiritual or emotional health, but rarely do we engage in conversations around fiscal health. We often use the excuse that we are focused on more “spiritual concerns” and avoid the subject entirely. Most conversations begin... Read more

The Heel and the Face: Politics of Esoteric Discourse

Last updated on: February 10, 2019 at 9:14 pm By Sonja Sadovsky

Healing Power of Silence So its a new year and a fresh start. January was a blur, been a while since I posted here. Took a long hiatus for the past 6 months, mainly due to life adventures and negative feedback over my past few contributions to Patheos discourse. Blogging can be a challenging game, as people get triggered in odd ways when confronted with opinions they disagree with. I spoke about my trip to the UK, and got criticized... Read more

Confessions of a Cannibal

Last updated on: July 9, 2018 at 12:00 am By Sonja Sadovsky

Relax, this isn’t going to hurt. You may feel some slight discomfort, but that will fade. Just close your eyes and listen to the sound of my voice. I am going to tell you a story, something you have never heard before. We will pass the time wisely before it is done. My mother says that fear enhances the flavor, but I disagree. Tenderness may be improved, but I find that sour aftertaste that lingers…indigestible. I prefer you to be... Read more

The Apolitical Witch: Are you Crafting Connection, or Cacophony?

Last updated on: July 2, 2018 at 11:23 am By Sonja Sadovsky

Do not fall into the trap of Divide and Conquer. Do not repeat the mistakes of our oppressors and participate in witch hunts. There is no romance in burning at the pyre. Your hands are not clean if you likewise light the fire. Read more

Mermaids, Harpies and Valkyries

Last updated on: February 18, 2018 at 10:10 pm By Sonja Sadovsky

Mermaids Life is never boring on Pluto. This year has rushed in like a tsunami, January crashed down on me with the unstoppable force of a tidal wave. My good friend Ned unexpectedly passes, my ex drops a lawsuit on me, and another friend is going down rapidly with brain cancer. A high school I used to live just down the road from was the most recent site of an active shooter massacre. Tension and grief are thick on the... Read more

Revolution and Redemption in the Magic City

Last updated on: January 16, 2018 at 12:12 am By Sonja Sadovsky

I took a trip to Birmingham for business, and had the chance to explore the Magic City. I was born in southern Alabama, though I did not grow up there. I had time to kill before work, and I was intrigued because this city hums with power and promise. I admit I knew little about the place, only that it had been the site of the famous 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in 1963, in which four girls were killed... Read more

Gone but Not Forgotten: Memorial for a Grunckle

Last updated on: January 3, 2018 at 6:56 pm By Sonja Sadovsky

Got a call yesterday morning that my wonderful friend Ned has died. I have been kicking myself, instead of calling him on New Year’s Day I was lazy, hibernated, called no one and regret that missed opportunity. We had just spoken last week, he thanked me for the holiday card I sent and wished me a happy birthday. I am 37, at that magical age where I seem to have as many dead friends as live ones. I am heartbroken. ... Read more

Hek, Heka, Hekate: Unleash the Hounds

Last updated on: November 16, 2017 at 9:12 pm By Sonja Sadovsky

My friend called me on Tuesday. Her close friend and guitarist was the one who called 911 and found the body of the fourth victim of the Tampa killer. She is concerned, the victim was found roughly 100 yards or so from his front porch and the authorities know nothing. All of the footage of the suspect is blurred, and so far it seems as if this person simply vanishes on foot. She asked me for some magickal assistance and... Read more

Samhain Thoughts as Pluto Walks

Last updated on: October 28, 2017 at 12:53 pm By Sonja Sadovsky

This is the time to reflect, and catalogue my experience from the past year. Ever since Pluto has gone direct, things have been haywire. 2017 is not going out without a fight. All of my friends are dealing with Fires, Floods, and Storms. Seems like everyone’s job is up in the air or going through some kind of Grand Recalibration. Perennial relationship woes. Mass murder in Las Vegas. #Metoo. There is also a serial killer currently on the loose in... Read more
