Elevation Worship, the Grammy- and Dove Award-winning contemporary Christian worship collective from Charlotte, North Carolina, made its first visit to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, spending the day with patients and families through music, conversation and special surprises.

Band members joined patients and families in making friendship bracelets and decorating trucker hats before hosting an intimate acoustic performance. One patient joined the band on stage during the set, singing alongside them and adding to the excitement in the room.

“Spending time at St. Jude was really special for us,” said lead singer Christopher Brown. “You can feel the hope here, and getting to meet some of the patients and families and see their joy and strength firsthand was something we won’t forget. We’re really grateful we got to be there.”

After the performance, the group invited several St. Jude families to its Memphis concert that evening and gifted them tickets.

Elevation Worship emerged in 2007 as the worship ministry of Elevation Church, the multisite congregation led by Pastor Steven Furtick. The collective has become one of the most prominent acts in contemporary Christian music, known for anthemic live recordings and songs that have topped Billboard’s Christian charts for extended stretches.

The group has earned one Grammy Award (Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for the collaborative project Old Church Basement with Maverick City Music) along with multiple nominations, including for “Praise,” “Jireh,” “The Blessing” and “I Know A Name.” It has also collected multiple GMA Dove Awards, including recognition for “Praise” and later for “I Know A Name” as Worship Recorded Song of the Year, and was named Billboard’s Top Christian Artist of 2024 — its first time topping the year-end ranking. That year it also won Billboard Music Awards for Top Christian Artist, Top Christian Album (Can You Imagine?) and Top Christian Song (“Praise”), bringing its career total to five Billboard Music Awards.

“Praise,” featuring Brandon Lake, Chris Brown and Chandler Moore, spent 31 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot Christian Songs chart. Other major hits include “Graves Into Gardens,” “The Blessing,” “O Come to the Altar,” “Do It Again,” “Rattle!,” “Same God” and “Trust In God.” The group has notched multiple No. 1 radio singles and has seen several albums reach No. 1 on the Top Christian Albums chart.

For families navigating childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases, opportunities to simply enjoy time together can mean everything. Elevation Worship’s visit delivered more than a performance. It created moments of joy and connection for families who spend so much of their time focused on treatment and care.
