‘Conceivable’ Opens Friday: Faith, Family & a Surprise at 45 2026-10-15T15:38:42-04:00 DeWayne Hamby

LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

A new faith-based drama inspired by a true story opens in theaters Oct. 16, exploring the upheaval of an unexpected pregnancy for a 45-year-old ministry leader.

“Conceivable,” written, directed, and produced by Beth Caulfield, follows Brielle Burns, a respected minister, wife, and mother of two nearly grown children whose carefully planned future is disrupted by a positive pregnancy test. The film stars Jana Lee Hamblin (“The West Wing”) as Brielle, with Eddie McClintock (“Stark Raving Mad”), Dean Cain (“Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman”), and Daniel Roebuck (“Final Destination”) also in the cast.

Caulfield, who co-directed the film with Hamblin, said the project grew directly from her own experience.

“Conceivable grew out of one of the most personal and challenging experiences of my life,” she said. “I didn’t want to make a film that tells audiences what to think. I wanted to invite them into an honest, human story that tested my faith, and I hope inspires theirs. At its heart, I wanted to spark real conversations that honor unseen experiences and help change lives.”

In the trailer, released by distributor Hawk Hill Pictures, Brielle is shown reacting with disbelief to the news of her pregnancy while friends and family weigh in on the practical and spiritual implications. Scenes depict conversations about financial strain, health risks, and the tension between personal plans and faith. One character urges her to “let go and let God,” prompting Brielle to pray, “God, please show me what is it that you want from me?”

The film was an Official Selection of the 2024 Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, a 2025 semifinalist at the Tokyo Women Film Festival, and the recipient of the 2023 OASIS Award for Best Screenplay. It is a People Throw Rocks At Things That Shine production, distributed by Hawk Hill Pictures.

Jen Katzfey, president of Hawk Hill Pictures, said the film’s strength is its relatability.

“While rooted deeply in faith, the tension between a well-planned life and an unexpected reality is something every viewer can understand,” she said. “Many women have experienced unplanned pregnancies, including later-in-life pregnancies. The film’s authenticity and realism make it a thought-provoking drama with broad commercial appeal.”
