Wonder Project just dropped a big announcement that’s sure to excite faith audiences everywhere. They’ve revealed “The Old Stories: Moses,” a three-part companion special set in the world of their hit series “House of David.” Along with the news, they’ve released a powerful new trailer and first-look images.

Produced by Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios, the special comes from visionary filmmaker Jon Erwin (known for “House of David,” “Jesus Revolution,” and the upcoming “Young Washington”). It stars Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley (“Gandhi,” “Schindler’s List”) as Moses and O-T Fagbenle (“The Handmaid’s Tale”) as Pharaoh. Additional cast includes Louis Ferreira as Jesse, Anna Khaja as Zipporah, and Rada Rae as Avva.

“The Old Stories: Moses” will premiere this spring on Wonder Project’s subscription on Prime Video in the U.S., with a global debut on Prime Video coming later.

“Moses is one of the most iconic figures in history, and his story still resonates with us today,” said Erwin. “We set out to tell The Old Stories: Moses with a cinematic awe and scale that feels both epic and personal. I am especially proud of the cast performances, and I can’t wait for people to see it on Wonder Project.”

From the world of “House of David,” this three-part special opens a window into the ancient narratives that shaped Israel long before David took the throne. As the past unfolds with epic force, a young shepherd sees his own future reflected in the courage, failure, and obedience of those who came before him.

Erwin directs, writes, and executive produces the project, with Jon Gunn and Justin Rosenblatt serving as executive producers for Wonder Project. Gavin J. Behrman is co-executive producer and Adam Abel is producer.

My take:

This is the latest exciting chapter in the ongoing renaissance of biblical dramas sparked by “The Chosen” and continuing with “House of David,” FOX’s “The Faithful: Women of the Bible,” and the upcoming “Joseph of Egypt” from 5&2 Studios. The trailer looks epic in scope, capturing the grandeur of ancient Egypt and giving us powerful glimpses of God’s might at work. Ben Kingsley as Moses feels like peak casting — he brings such gravitas and depth. And having Jon Erwin writing and directing is especially exciting, since House of David has already been so warmly embraced by both audiences and critics.

Wonder Project’s subscription on Prime Video is available in the U.S. for $8.99/month or $89.99/year. For more details, click here.
