Once again, the most decorated female gospel artist CeCe Winans, captivated the nation with a soul-stirring performance during “American Idol”‘s recent “Songs of Faith” Easter special. Her powerful rendition of “Come Jesus Come” became an instant viral sensation, garnering 25 million plus views in its first 36 hours and surged to Top 3 on Apple Music’s All Genre Singles Chart, an extraordinary milestone for a gospel track.

This marks the second year in a row CeCe has made “American Idol” history. Her 2024 performance of “Goodness of God” with Idol contestant, Roman Collins was the most viewed American Idol performance of all time, reaching over 120 million views across platforms and sparking a renewed national appreciation for gospel music.

Now, building on that momentum, CeCe Winans is joining forces with country music multi-platinum selling artist Cody Johnson for a brand-new duet version of “Come Jesus Come,” releasing Friday, April 25 on all major streaming platforms. The collaboration bridges the worlds of gospel and country, blending CeCe’s unmatched vocal purity with Cody’s earthy, heartfelt delivery.

Produced in Nashville by Kyle Lee, the reimagined version of the song features a lush instrumentation arrangement that amplifies the raw emotion in both artists’ voices. It’s a stirring, genre-crossing interpretation that honors the original while opening the door to new audiences.

“To be invited back to ‘American Idol’ to share a message of hope through music is such an honor,” said CeCe Winans. “This song means so much to me and teaming up with Cody brings a new richness to the message. It’s a reminder that in the midst of all we face, there’s still the promise that help is on the way.”

With 17 GRAMMY® Awards, numerous chart-topping albums, and a legacy that transcends genres, CeCe Winans continues to be a force in music and culture. Her return to American Idol reaffirms her place not only as gospel royalty but as one of the most influential voices in music today. Watch her “American Idol” performance below.
