Why I Converted to Judaism from Christianity
Last updated on: August 4, 2026 at 10:26 pm By Rebecca Wallace Keene
When I converted, I didn’t just decide to leave the faith I’d been in for 25 years. I was forced to leave when I realized that I’d been living a life both G-d and Jesus had already testified against. As I studied the scriptures for my religion degree, I couldn’t believe the pattern I was seeing in the text. However, soon I couldn’t deny it. Read plainly, it sounded as though both G-d and Jesus were warning against the very... Read more

The Eden Diet: Returning to The Garden
Last updated on: July 20, 2026 at 5:52 pm By Rebecca Wallace Keene
The Torah begins man’s relationship with G-d in The Garden of Eden. As such, when we ask what humans were originally meant to be or how we were to behave, we look to Eden. Eden gives us the only picture we have of humanity before the fall and of G-d’s expectations for his human creation before their initial disobedience. For this reason, we must return to The Garden. Return to Eden As summer continues to bake the country and the... Read more

Sodom and Gomorrah: Why This Story Isn’t About Homosexuality
Last updated on: June 30, 2026 at 11:58 pm By Rebecca Wallace Keene
The story of Sodom and Gomorrah is one of the most famous in the Torah. It tells the story of two cities that G-d chose to destroy with fire and brimstone. Many faith traditions have pointed to this tale to condemn homosexual relationships. However, the text does not support that reading. Sodom and Gomorrah were not destroyed for homosexuality. When read in its full context, the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah were far broader, and the reason for their destruction... Read more

The Search for Monotheism
Last updated on: June 22, 2026 at 10:53 pm By Rebecca Wallace Keene
My search for monotheism has spanned many years. That search led me through the religions of the ancient world in pursuit of monotheism’s earliest roots. Such a search often leads scholars back to ancient Persia and Zoroastrianism. This is because of the religion’s purported influence on Judaism and Christianity. However, as I study those influences and Zoroastrianism, it has become clear that Judaism was the first truly monotheistic religion. Zoroastrian Influence It is true that there appears to have been... Read more

Words Are Power: Taking Back the Language of Israel
Last updated on: June 17, 2026 at 9:03 pm By Rebecca Wallace Keene
Judaism teaches us that words are power. Proverbs 18:21 reminds us, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” Further, Sefer Yetzirah chapter 2 reminds us that language was the foundation of the world and of every soul. “Twenty-Two Letters—He carved them, and hewed them, and weighed them, and exchanged them, and combined them, and formed with them the soul of every formed being and the soul of every being He has yet to form.” Yet, we as... Wrestling With G-d
Last updated on: June 14, 2026 at 11:13 pm By Rebecca Wallace Keene
Jacob wrestled with G-d all night, refusing to let go. He didn’t come to blessing through a sermon, judgement, a list of commandments, or threats of hell. Blessing only found Jacob through wrestling with G-d for an entire night and refusing to let go without a blessing. He left that struggle injured but blessed. Jacob became Israel, he who wrestles with G-d. As I reflect on my past and conversion, I believe that wrestling is what Christianity never allowed... Read more

Why Passover Is About Survival, Not Universal Liberation
Last updated on: March 25, 2026 at 2:46 pm By Rebecca Wallace Keene
On Passover we eat matzah to remember suffering. Then, almost immediately, we flip the script and turn Passover into a story of universal liberation, freedom, and celebration. It’s a nice concept, but not at all what Exodus declares. Exodus is not the story of humanity being set free. It was about freeing a specific people so they could bring G-d’s law to the world. Matzah: The Bread of Survival However, in order to do that, they had to survive the... Read more

The Women Who Built Israel
Last updated on: March 11, 2026 at 12:46 pm By Rebecca Wallace Keene
We often assume that the patriarchy ruled Israel. However, while the patriarchs received the promise, it was the matriarchs who saw the future and moved the story forward. They ensured the divine plan unfolded as it should. The matriarchs saw Israel’s future and took action to bring about divine order and fulfill the prophecies. It was the women who built Israel. The matriarchs remind us that faith is fruitless without action. Sarah Built Israel When Abraham wavered about turning out... Read more

Torah on Immigration: This Purim Take Off the Mask
Last updated on: March 2, 2026 at 10:00 am By Rebecca Wallace Keene
On Purim we celebrate Esther taking a stand for her people and their right to exist. However, many Jewish people today are fighting against the right of the Jewish people to exist and have their own land, so this Purim take off the mask of political correctness. We cannot continue to put on a mask and be politically correct while Haman is at the door. We must begin to think about what is said in Torah on immigration and borders.... Read more

The Torah Teaches Justice But We Have Chosen Compromise
Last updated on: February 18, 2026 at 8:39 am By Rebecca Wallace Keene
Like most of the world, since 2020 I have spent a lot of time wondering what is wrong with our world, and I found the answer in The Torah: Justice. G-d’s laws did not teach us to run a world based on political correctness, diplomacy, and anarchy. Instead, G-d told us in Amos 5:24 to let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever flowing stream. The Torah teaches righteousness, justice, and law, but we have chosen compromise.... Read more
