Spooky Judaism: Did Adam Father Demons?
Last updated on: October 14, 2026 at 4:59 pm By Rebecca Wallace Keene
Welcome to our new series, Spooky Judaism. As a Jewish convert, I no longer celebrate Halloween. However, Jewish teachings do have a spooky side. I thought it would be fun to explore that this October. So, while continuing our Ark series, we are also going to do a series of Spooky Jewish tales. Dybbuks, Demons, and Angels. OH MY!!! Did Adam Father Demons? Let’s start with demons. Did you know, according to the Talmud, Adam and Eve were separated for... Read more

The Ark of The Covenant: All Roads Lead to Yemen
Last updated on: October 8, 2026 at 9:43 am By Rebecca Wallace Keene
That The Ark of the Covenant goes to Yemen is one of the few things I can say with certainty. Our last article explored the idea that two Arks existed. There are many competing stories about what happened to those Arks. However, no matter which trail I followed, I eventually ended up in Yemen. Over the course of this series, we will look at each of those legends separately. We will then explore what happens after Yemen. Today, we start... Read more

Two Arks of the Covenant? The Ancient Case for a Second Ark
Last updated on: September 27, 2026 at 11:28 am By Rebecca Wallace Keene
Two Arks of the Covenant? We learn about the Ark of the Covenant, but what if there were two Arks? As we follow the Ark throughout the text, a pattern suggesting two Arks arises. One Ark was the footstool of G-d in the Holy of Holies, and one led the Israelites. It seems like an outrageous claim, but this is not a new theory. The Jerusalem Talmud Shekalim 6:1 records: “It was stated: “Rebbi Jehudah ben Laqish says, two arks... Read more

The Trumpets of Revelation Blew and No One Noticed
Last updated on: September 26, 2026 at 11:00 am By Rebecca Wallace Keene
The trumpets of Revelation blew, and no one noticed. Jesus said in Luke 17:28, “And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot. People went about their daily business—eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building.” That was one prediction Jesus got right. The Trumpets of Revelation On Rosh Hashanah 2026 the temple trumpets were blown on Temple Mount for the first time in thousands of years. Traditionally the trumpets should be blown with the... Pride Rainbow Jesus and Satan: When Satire Goes Too Far
Last updated on: September 15, 2026 at 4:23 am By Rebecca Wallace Keene
Pikeville Pride this year drew a lot of negative attention from the community after having a man dressed as Jesus in rainbows and others dressed as Satanist pose for photos together. Homophobia is a real problem in much of the world and especially in the deep Bible Belt of the Appalachian Mountains, but we must ask ourselves at what point are we asking for more hate? Pride Acceptance For several years now Pride has happened in Pikeville with little backlash.... Read more

Rosh Hashanah: What I Got Wrong About Sex, Gender, and G-d
Last updated on: September 10, 2026 at 1:59 pm By Rebecca Wallace Keene
On Rosh Hashanah we blow the shofar. The sound of the ram’s horn is a call to wake up and examine the person we have been and who we want to be in the future. It is also a time of repenting and forgiveness. This year, these themes have become very literal for me as I work toward being a more honest version of myself. Teshuvah on Rosh Hashanah Teshuvah isn’t simply about saying we’re sorry for wrongdoings. It means... Read more

Why The Quran is Truer to G-d’s Word Than The New Testament
Last updated on: September 30, 2026 at 5:24 pm By Rebecca Wallace Keene
Having read all the Holy Texts associated with the Abrahamic religions, I have come to the conclusion that The Quran is truer to G-d’s Word than The New Testament. Anyone who has read my work knows I’m no fan of Islam. I have spoken harshly against extreme Islamic beliefs, violence, and treatment of children. I suspect I will continue to do that, but what I do respect about Islam is that its holy book, The Quran, is truer to the... Read more

The Ancient Roots of Women’s Equality in Judaism
Last updated on: September 6, 2026 at 2:51 pm By Rebecca Wallace Keene
Women’s Equality in Judaism August 26th is National Women’s Equality Day, celebrating women’s right to vote. This year, as the US celebrates its 250th anniversary, we are asked to explore how far women have come and what our chosen faiths say about women’s equality. In my chosen faith of Judaism, women have always been honored despite a patriarchal society. Over the last 250 years, that honor has evolved into true equality. Women’s Equality in the Ancient World Even in the... Read more

The Old and New Testament Gods Are Not the Same G-d
Last updated on: August 14, 2026 at 6:11 pm By Rebecca Wallace Keene
In the second century, Marcion concluded that the Old Testament and the New Testament gods are not the same deity. The emerging orthodox Christian church labeled him a heretic. Of course they did. Such a theory would mean Christians were not grafted into Israel’s covenant with G-d. However, after carefully reading both texts, I believe Marcion was right that there were two separate deities. Marcion’s mistake wasn’t his theory of two separate gods. His mistake was in following the wrong... Read more
