Who is Allah?

LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

He is Allah, there is no god but He. The supreme Sovereign, the Holy one, The Peace, the giver of Faith and the determiner of Truth and Falsehood, the the One who subdues wrong and restores right, 30  the One to whom all greatness belongs! Utterly remote is God, in His limitless glory, from anything to which men may ascribe a share in His divinity!

This Friday Khutbah (sermon) asks the question Who is Allah? One of the problems of institutionalized religions is that if one is not careful one may end up replacing God with religion. So rather than think, talk, remember (Zikr) and wonder about God, one finds many people engaged in talking about the superiority of one’s religion and spending energy to glorify the religion rather than God himself. This Khutbah is a small effort to refocus one’s gaze (tawajjuh) on God alone.
