A Catholic Should Consider Bernie Sanders

Last updated on: February 18, 2016 at 5:00 pm   By Keith Michael Estrada

Join Keith Michael Estrada on Facebook … I’m still away from the keyboard and can’t draw this out in length at this time. However, I’ll soon be explaining why we should all consider Bernie Sanders as a valid candidate for President of the United States this 2016 election. Sanders isn’t the perfect candidate – he is  disappointingly wrong on some very important areas, and these cannot be ignored. Look at the field of candidates and think about some of the... Read more

Traveling without WiFi=Minimal Posting; Be Back Soon

Last updated on: February 7, 2016 at 10:02 am   By Keith Michael Estrada

We haven’t had access to a decent internet connection in quite some time. Paired with plenty of traveling, Proper Nomenclature hasn’t produced much for us to talk about. I’ll also be very much occupied this coming week, but we have so much to share! We were recently at the March for Life in Washington DC, where we experienced the historic blizzard of 2016 named Jonas. We met and broke bread with the Democrats for Life of America and Charlie Camosy, said... Read more

Don’t Go to the March for Life in DC

Last updated on: February 12, 2016 at 1:57 pm   By Keith Michael Estrada

Join Keith Michael Estrada on Facebook … Unless you’re already close by and don’t need to travel through the blizzard on your way in or out. Had to offer the quick note from our hotel in DC. People seem to be scrambling to prepare to stay in doors and off the roads here, in preparation for the blizzard. The March for Life organization hasn’t done a good job of retiring language that reminds us of warfare and the crusades when... Read more

Sharing Dr. King’s “Dream” – For a Price

Last updated on: January 17, 2016 at 4:07 pm   By Keith Michael Estrada

You may not publicly share or recite Dr. King’s speech without, in most cases, paying a hefty fee. Philly.com’s Ronnie Polaneczky shared how her own dream was frustrated. She dreamt of having youth and city leaders recite the speech in memory of the slain champion for equality, to be followed by a lifestream of the speech on philly.com for the benefit of all. “But no one,” she writes, “at the Atlanta-based Martin Luther King Jr. Center responded to my calls and emails... Read more

Dorothy Day: Distributist, Socialist, or Anarchist?

Last updated on: January 17, 2016 at 2:02 pm   By Keith Michael Estrada

The Servant of God Dorothy Day embraced distributism. The Servant of God Dorothy Day embraced socialism. The Servant of God Dorothy Day embraced anarchism. Over the weekend, let’s consider how every statement above is true. So I’ll just drop a few lines to encourage your thought these next few days. I’ll help with the following: Day recommended and identified with distributism as proposed by Chesterton and Belloc. Day saw the work of Peter Kropotkin on anarchism and economic social organization... Read more

John Paul II: If You Want Priestly Vocations, Reject Capitalism

Last updated on: January 15, 2016 at 4:01 pm   By Keith Michael Estrada

Surrounded by consumerism, materialism, and individualism, discerning a vocation to the priesthood becomes the anti-‘American’ option for young men. You’ll remember our post, “If You Want Atheism, Destroy Creation, Embrace Capitalism” from last week. It was incredibly popular with our atheist friends and our capitalist friends. This message of this post should be implied by the first. How can priestly vocations flourish when materialism rules the flesh, when the spiritual loses value, and where success requires alienation of self and neighbor?... Read more
