LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

This is an article written by someone who loves his work.

Seriously.

Academic Urban Legends tells the story of the creation of an academic myth through a series of poor citation choices. Many of the sources, funnily enough, are articles decrying inadequate citation.

Whatever types or combination of shortcuts Larsson has taken, he has provided us with an excellent example of the topic contained in the title of his own article: ‘The dissemination of false data through inadequate citation’.

It sounds like the dullest article in the universe. But it was fascinating! There were plot twists! I encourage you to read the whole thing.

NB: while one of my current projects is on academic integrity, I don’t want ever to actually publish it, because Mr. Hubris and Ms. Karma might come knocking.
