“Youth often flounder without moral teaching, facing extreme peer pressure and identity crises that only a real relationship with Christ can resolve.” Billy Graham

Warning- adult type issues are being discussed in this article. The story of the week seems to be about a fraternity and a woman who engaged in some pretty promiscuous behavior, The Cornell 7. I’ve read scathing rebukes of the men involved telling everyone to “Believe all women.” While in principle, I do believe that this is something that should be considered, but more widely, we need to consider the woman in question and the men. Sexuality has existed since the Garden of Eden. He who kills, steals, and destroys has sought to pervert this sacred act in any way he can. Think about it, God created sex for procreation and for the pleasure of the husband and wife. I am going to address those who come and say, “Well, in the Bible there were marriages with multiple partners, and they were committed relationships! Look at Jacob! Look at David!” Just because it is in the Bible, doesn’t mean God Almighty approves of it. His design is laid out for us in Genesis with the creation of Adam and Eve. Sin is talked about in the Bible and rebellion, did God approve of it? No! He sent His only son to die so that we could be free from sin eternally. Humanity is flawed, Satan roams around like a roaring lion, and he will pervert sex any and every way he can.

The Cornell Story is heart-wrenching

When I heard the story of a young woman having pretty explicit sexual actions with several young men, my heart felt such mourning. First, for the young woman in question, what has happened in her life to cause her to believe that multiple partners and drugs was the gateway to happiness? As far as the young men in question, why were they not taught to be true gentlemen? When they saw that the woman was clearly incapacitated, why did one young man not put a stop to it? Or all of them for that matter? The role of women and men has been perverted so very much that God’s design, which is all things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of eternal value not taken into consideration. It all comes back to the question, what has happened to humanity? We’ve lost our moral compass. The Sunday School generation is no more. When the blocks that build your upbringing are of straw or sinking sand, sin inevitably creeps in and takes over. God created sex, Satan created porn. God created discipline and knowing boundaries. Satan pushed the anything goes culture.

Our current cultural issues started in the sexual revolution

Recently I read an article stating that “The Sexual Revolution Freed Men and Failed Women.” In the article, the author, Barb Adamson made some very succinct reasons as to why the revolution failed women. “Far from empowering women, the sexual revolution has normalized a culture where women are expected to meet men’s desires while suppressing their own need for commitment, security and dignity. And when birth control fails, abortion becomes the hidden cost of keeping up the illusion that sex can be consequence-free.” She’s right. When a culture expects sexual freedom, what happens is a heap of women who desire more (commitment, children and a godly husband) don’t get it. Rather than bringing our fleshly desires into submission with God’s Word and discipline, we’ve chosen birth control, abortion and no consequences (that we believe.) But is society as a whole really better off with what some call, “Nasty Women?”

God’s creation lays out the role of men and women

If you have any questions as to what God’s design was for men and women, you need not look further than the book of Genesis. Now before you get angry and say, “Women were subjugated during that time! They were second class citizens!” While that was true in many cases, that was not God’s design. Just because the behavior was written in the Bible, doesn’t mean God approved of that behavior at all. In fact, God gave us the parameters, it is humanity in their sin nature that perverted the paradigm God gave us. In the book of Genesis, God created Adam and then, Eve. After their creation, the age old words that have been said many times in marriage cereminoes was coined: “Therefore man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” The word joined implies passion and permanence. One flesh carries many implications: sexual union, the creation of children, physical and spiritual intimacy and respect. That is God’s design. I grow so tired of the old adage, “Men will be men!” That was a blanket excuse to be for a lack of a better way to put it, a man whore. God did not call for that in any way. While we are on the subject, I want to discuss the Biblical figures who had many wives. I recently sat in a sermon where the pastor said that because some Biblical figures had “committed” unions of more than one partner, God must have approved. NO! He did not. You need only look to Jesus’ words in the New Testament concerning marriage, and for that matter, the Apostle Paul as well. I’ll say it again, what God creates, Satan counterfeits.

The Fall in the Garden cemented this age old fight between men and women

In the garden, when the serpent deceived both Adam and Eve with the forbidden fruit, God pronounced a prophecy and a judgement. Father God prophesied about the “seed of the woman” which would become the virgin birth of Mary and ultimately the coming of Jesus. For the man and wife, God also pronounced a judgement. “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children’; Your desire shall be for your husband and he shall rule over you. I would like to share with you an absolutely wonderful commentary that was written by the late Jack Hayford concerning this portion of Scripture: Your desire for your husband is difficult in the Hebrew. Most likely the expression carries the idea that, remembering their joint rule in the garden, she would desire to dominate her husband. He shall rule over you asserts the divine assignment of the husband’s servant-leader role. There is no evidence that this was ever intended as a domineering of the woman’s person or giftedness, but rather a redemptive role assigned toward the wife as a means towards the original partnership. This passage does not assert male dominance over females. But rather the responsibility of the husband as put forth by God the Father.

It bears repeating, What God creates, Satan counterfeits

Where does this all leave us? The Cornell act happened and it was terrible. But if you take a more larger view of the situation, this is an indictment on society as a whole. We’ve thrown the beauty of sex out with momentary pleasure, we’ve taken a beautiful act and joined it with many people. Our bodies are the Temple of the Holy Spirit (we are called to live a life of holiness), would you join His temple with multiple partners and drugs? Not if you knew the Holy Spirit dwelled there. On a personal note, I’ve shared before, I was a teen mother. The blessing from the situation was that God in His mercy provided me with a loving family who saw me through that time. But you know what? A lot of my friends were sleeping with any and everyone as well. When your base desires rule your flesh, you hurt the heart of the Holy Spirit. When I joined my flesh with a man that was not my husband, I became one with him and it grieved Father’s heart. Thank goodness He forgives us and removes our sin as far as the east is from the west, but it happened. Do you know why? Society pushes it, “Give into your desires, it’s natural! Multiple partners! Anything goes!” Just look at all the “hook up” apps we have now. What God creates, Satan will try any way he can to defile it. I’ll say it again, God calls us to be disciplined, even when it is hard but the reward of coming to Him is great. Spiritual peace and relief which no sexual experience can top.

How can I be disciplined in a world gone mad?

Seriously, how can we have discipline in this world? Am I right? My husband and I have gone to see comedian Bill Maher a couple times. He always states that shame has become all but extinct in our society. The “I make my rules” morality plays out on a daily basis, much to most people’s detriment. While I agree in principle, I think a better word to use is, “Objective Truth” needs to make a comeback. We’ve let our base natures rule us for far too long. I often hear the words, “Well I feel it is the truth.” Dear ones, I’ve got news for you, our feelings lie to us, often. The Scripture tells us that there is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to destruction. As long as we are ruled by our feelings, destruction and every wicked thing will be our end. Start with the truth, not what you feel, and more importantly, go to He who is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Jesus Christ.

It’s possible to be modest and beautiful

It’s ok to be modest and be beautiful. Society (and Satan) has handed women a bill of goods about dressing immodestly. You can be beautiful and appealing without being immodest. This is not going to be a popular take but it must be said, the words, “I want to look sexy!” Well, it’s a lie from the pit of hell. The only place we should want be desired and admired is for our husband in the privacy of our bedrooms. Jesus made it clear his position concerning lust: “But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”  Also, men should not pressure women to subject their bodies to this trash. I recently watched a reel that summed it up very well. One man said, “Men like to look at women who dress sexy.” The pastor said, “Wrong, Good men like for women to be Proverbs 31 women, a beautiful creation by God.” Amen sir. Amen. Being modest glorifies God.

Stop the smutty work

I used to read smutty books. One day, I grew tired of the smut and said, No more! A good story with nuance outpaces a story full of explicit sex. I remember when I read 50 Shades of Grey as fan fiction thinking, that’ll do, no more. The book was devoid of plot yet full of explicit themes. We all struggle with sin, some it is alcohol, others it is drugs, some struggle with promiscuity. The call, the nudge from the Holy Spirit is to come to Father God and let Him reign in your life. Even the Apostle Paul had a thorn in the flesh. He gave it to Father God. Stop viewing pornography in all of its forms, even television shows. They propagate the lie that women are objects and men can do what they will with them.

Sin breaks you, Jesus saves you

I once met someone who bragged about her 9+ abortions. She was sexually free. She was a good friend of mine. I saw her life play out and dear ones, she was one of the most miserable, broken people I have ever met. She never married because in her words, “I want to live like a man, no responsibility.” Working in the fitness industry for several years I was constantly around women and men who had no rules or boundaries. There were times I thought I was awfully naive to think that because they were married, they were committed. It was a cesspool of drugs and debauchery. They worshiped at the altar of Ashtoreth of old, each day was a new opportunity to revel in sin. Also in that mix were the young mothers who paraded themselves around (with their children) looking for their next hookup. The whole situation broke my heart. They had no purpose other than self, and their God-shaped whole was left broken and wounded. Dear ones, there is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Jesus’ blood. He begs you, come. He will fill you full of His love and that sin that marred you for so long? He can bring you freedom.

Parents. Teach children to be ladies and gentlemen. Guard your heart, and your sexuality to glorify God.

The most wonderful truth that we can teach our sons and daughters (and grandchildren) is to respect the vessel that God gave them. Stop sitting on the trope of nasty women and toxic masculinity. Personally, I am blessed that my husband understands that he is the head of our marriage. Does that mean he rules over me? He would laugh if someone suggested that. He understands I have a strong personality, he encourages me to embrace it. When I get to be a little much, he reigns me in. I love that about him. I love that I have been a servant of God, stay-at-home wife and mother. That has been my greatest and hardest joy. Why do you think that became a stigmatized occupation? I can tell you, you can probably guess. It’s another product of the forever loser, Satan.  I will never forget when a well meaning woman asked me if I had regrets that I was a stay at home mom. “You don’t have a career, you probably hate it, right?” I told her that was my God appointed and deeply loved occupation in life. I would not have it any other way.

Can we have another Jesus Revolution?

Church! Step forth and be bold!

It’s time to take back culture where women can be powerful Proverbs 31 mothers and wives. Men can be as God created them, Much like Christ loves the church, Husbands are to love their wives in that manner. The Cornell seven case is awful. We should pray for the young woman most definitely, and the men. We are watching a generation of young ones bourne upon a lie. They have no direction, that is why they are confused about their gender, their sexuality and life. They have not had any exposure to The author of Life! I once asked a man who was addicted to pornography if he had considered that this might someday be his daughter. He laughed and said, “My daughter would not do that, I’d make sure of it.” I said, “Well, it’s someone’s daughter, don’t you owe them the same respect?” His answer was silence. Dear ones, they are all of our sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters. Let’s step forth, repent of our many sins (mine included) and walk towards a new purpose of glorifying God Almighty. It’s time.  Selah
