Nepal and Tibet disaster

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,  who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 2:3-4

The tragic and undoubtedly apocalyptic wave of debris and water that tore through the Nepal and Tibet border was absolutely gut wrenching. When I happened upon the video, I stopped and wondered, “Is this AI?!” As I frantically searched, much to my absolute horror, it was real. So many people, standing at a border crossing, waiting to see many more sights in the picturesque mountains. I’m sure some were looking forward to more time on their journey, others were seeking spiritual peace in our troubled times and just like that, they were gone in an instant. Boulders were rolling like bouncy balls; whole buildings were swept away, while others looked on in horror in the safety of the hills.

Why is this happening?

One has to wonder: when this happens, why? Was it an act of God? Was it the earth groaning from the strain of sin? Could it be global warming? Even if we had the answers to those questions, we still have to wonder why so many innocent lives were taken in this powerful event. We do have the Scripture to guide us during these perilous times; it basically tells us to draw near to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of the Faith. It’s only His comfort that will see us through. If we pause and look at all the earthquakes that have occurred in the last few weeks, the absolutely strange weather that is happening all over the world, the fires, the floods, the blood moons, the civil unrest. The absolute narcissism and disregard for the truth that runs our world. We have to know that we are in the times that Jesus mentioned in Matthew 24. He said there would be great tribulation, backbiters, slanderers, earthquakes, false prophets and many other distressing events. Yet Jesus also gave us hope; He is coming back in the clouds triumphant!

Do I think God is trying to get our attention?

Dear ones, I do indeed believe that God is trying to get the world’s attention. The world has become as the days of Noah, depraved in just about every way, even in the church! There exists a small remnant but they are few and far between. People look at evil and call it good and vice versa. All those in Noah’s time were consumed with themselves, so much so that when the flood came, they were so much in their echo chamber it caught them unaware. All of their foolishness and lust for sin caught up with them as the waters overtook their very lives. Undoubtedly, not everyone on the earth is like this, but if you look at the masses, this is undoubtedly true. I was scrolling through reels a few days ago; I was flabbergasted by how many people talk about me, me and more me. It is uncanny. I’m not implying that we can’t take care of ourselves, but in the case of society these days we have severely overcorrected our actions on the side of self, self and more self. We are crucified with Christ, and yet we live. Not I, but Christ who lives in me.

What can I do?

Always look to Jesus, the Author and finisher of the Faith and pray earnestly. Spend time in His Word, don’t let he who kills, steals and destroys have any foothold in your life. Walk towards holiness, not away from it. I believe that events are going to escalate in the coming days and weeks like we have never seen in our lives. If you look at history, it repeats itself over and over. We are in another cycle of walking away from God to the point that He cannot look away. You might be saying, “Wait, I thought He loves us immeasurably!” Yes, He does, absolutely but the earth groans from sin. It is His creation, and as such the perfection of creation can only take so much depravity. Call to Him! He will answer.

Are you weary?

A prayer for those suffering

As I was going before God to write this article, He impressed upon me to write a prayer for those suffering at the moment. I can’t imagine the families waiting to hear if their loved ones made it, some will never see their mother, father, sister, brother, etc.. again. My heart is broken for them.

Prayer

Dear Father above, You are immeasurably great and mighty. The heavens declare the glory of Your boundless love. The wonders of the earth are displayed in the firmament. Jesus, we thank You for Your sacrifice. You are Holy, Magnificent, and worthy of our praise. Holy Spirit, we ask You to come right now and minister Your comfort in the lives of all those who are suffering. Please comfort the brokenhearted and save those crushed in spirit. Please wipe the very tears from their eyes with your love. We ask You, O God, to show us Your glory in our land and in our lives. Let us fix our eyes upon You in these distressing times. Please shower us with the peace that passes all understanding that comes from Jesus Christ. Help us, O Lord, to know how to be a light in the darkness to those who are struggling right now. We pray for the families that have lost loved ones. Please guide them, O Lord, with Your love. Come to them in dreams, please, Father, and let them know how to have Your peace when times are difficult. As the days continue on, help us in our coming and going. We trust in You with all of our heart, we lean not unto our own understanding. We pray that in all of our ways we will acknowledge You, and You will direct our paths. Show us the high and dark places in our lives and flood them with light. Please forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. All Glory and honor to You. In Jesus ‘ mighty name, Amen.  Finally, as time flows on dear ones, look to Jesus. We are going to need Him. He never lies. Selah.
