You Can’t Say You Love God And Do Whatever You Want

Truth in the World

“When you want to help people, you tell them the truth. When you want to help yourself, you tell them what they want to hear.” Thomas Sowell

There is a question that must be asked of the church of today. Let’s start with the Scripture reference: One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked Him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” Jesus answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” How often have you heard this passage of Scripture expounded upon? How often have you heard a believer say that their choices are right because they love God and love their neighbor? Is this passage used as a free pass to live life just as you want without consequence? It’s time to ponder this weighty question.

Love Trumps All

I want to talk about a subject that may offend some, but it has been on my mind and heart for some time. Dear ones, I believe that the church has gone the way of sloppy spirituality in the name of “inclusion.” Is the Kingdom of Heaven for everyone? Yes, if you enter through Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life. Earlier today, I was perusing the musings of a pastor who called himself “A Pastor for the Diaspora” of the church. As I continued to read his musings, he put forth that to love God with all your heart and to love your neighbor as yourself means to accept just anything. After all, we are not sure that there is life after death, our faith may not be the only faith, and we are not alone in the universe. Oh, and we need to accept the Jesus that each member of the diaspora sees as “their Jesus.” After I picked my jaw up off the floor, my spirit felt such grief. What I read was a bunch of hoity-toity jargon about diaspora in the name of diversity and inclusion.

Deconstruction

Are Some Churches a Brood of Vipers?

This church was just one example of many that I’ve read about recently. Deconstruction, excuses, division and every kind of mind-bending, ridiculous doctrine have been bandied about over and over in an attempt not to offend anyone. Church, sin is offensive to God and to love Him with all your heart is to let the Gospel do its work in your life. That Gospel work is to mold your character more and more like Him. Otherwise, why did Jesus come to die in our place? I fear that the church has gone the way of the “brood of vipers” that Jesus spoke about in Matthew.

How do I let the Gospel do its Work in Me?

I Am Too Much of a Mess to Let the Gospel do its Work!

I have a name for you, a simple shepherd who started completely devoted to God. He served in the King’s house, he slayed the giant, got the girl and then a lot went sideways. He lied, he murdered, committed adultery and lost his child. It sounds like a sordid soap opera, does it not? Yet he was known as “A man after God’s own heart.” His name was David. God loves you so much, dear ones, He wants you to be after His own heart. There are so many examples in Scripture of those who were highly flawed and used of God. You only need to let the Gospel do its work in you.

Now Is the Time

Finally, gone are the days of the fanciful inclusion of the word Gospel. It’s time to return to the basics. The simple commands that Jesus told us were the greatest. Life has become so busy that we’ve lost the plot. Instead of lives that kind of sort of revolve around God, if we have time, we must make Him the center of our lives. Allow His Gospel to do its work in us. I’ve heard many fellow remnant saints say they can feel the spiritual shift in the world, a calling for us to walk closer with God. Do you feel it? My prayer and hope is that you do, dear ones. Ask Him, He’s waiting with arms open to bring you into a closer walk with Him. Selah
