Trick or treat!” It used to be something that kids dressed in goofy, often homemade costumes, used to say as doors opened on their Halloween romps. From the looks of some new costumes and fashion trends for girls, it may be more of a proposition the girls are making, as if to give someone an option…”Trick? or treat?”

The Washington Post has this article detailing the new trend in skimpy, sexed up costumes for girls. From the looks of it, the costume manufacturers ought to be providing signs to go with the costumes that say, “Walking felony.” It’s hard to believe that this is progress. As the Post author notes, boys aren’t being sexed up. Just the girls. Sure, this is how we teach them that they ought to be loved for their minds and their personalities, not their bodies and their looks. Is it just me or do we need to start selling a backbone in a bottle for parents?

Of course, it should come as no surprise when Victoria’s Secret is essentially marketing to the same age group. Read here .
