I’m not in the slightest bit surprised that Nadia Bolz-Weber absolutely killed it at the annual youth gathering of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) in New Orleans. After some fear-based opposition because she might swear — and I’m sure also because of her tattoos and views — she was allowed to appear, and was both respectful of the format and authentically herself. If I were a young adult in that audience wondering what role faith would play in my life and whether the organized church had any place in it, Nadia’s presentation may just have changed my path in that moment. Though I personally encountered her way further down the road in my spiritual journey, she nevertheless has had a sizable impact. I am grateful to count her as a friend. Whatever denomination or inclination, I hope you’ll check this out this powerful video.
